Default power wire?

ive heard alot of talk on here about the power wire and people saying that it has really done good for them so i was just wondering what exactly is a power wire? where can i get one? how easy is it to install? what does it do (increase horsepower or gas mileage or what)? how does it work? and how much does it cost? sorry for all the questions but i just got a job and am about to have a constant cash flow so im lookin to do as many mods as possible to my 4.7 to give it the most power possible.

The POWER WIRE is a PLUG & PLAY IAT mod. It will tell your PCM that the intake air temps are a consistant 20 degrees cooler than the actual air temps AT ALL TIMES. Because its "INLINE" and just alters the signal from your air temp sensor your PCM is able to adjust to the changeing air temps for best power and fuel economey... but with the POWER WIRE installed teh PCM will ALWAYS think the air temps are 20 degrees cooler. This causes the PCM to advance the timing approximately 3-4 degrees which is worth 8-10HP... its a great PLUG & PLAY mod that will add some snap to your throttle response and when you consider it takes less than one minute to install and only cost 30 bucks you cant go wrong. You can find it at www.AIRRAM.com in the products section. It will also add approximately 2-2.5% fuel at WOT. Most customers report gains of 1-2MPG after installing the POWER WIRE. If you have any additional questions please feel free to contact me.

Here is a copy of the PCM reset instructions I include with each POWER WIRE. There is also another way to reset it by removing a fuze... I have found the "LONG WAY" to work better... I like to reset my PCM at each oil change and each time I add a mod. It is NOT necisary to reset your PCM but it does help your PCM adaptives to learn quicker.

RESETING YOUR COMPUTER

There are only two reasons you would get an engine light after installing the POWER WIRE or adding the EXTENSION WIRE.

The most common problem would be a bad connection. If you turn the key with out the AIR TEMP SENSOR connected you WILL get a light. If you’re not making metal to metal contact with your connections and you turn the key you WILL get a light.

All is NOT lost. In most cases all you need to do is follow these steps to clear the light.

Before you complete these steps please take the time to inspect your connections. Remove the POWER/ EXTENSION WIRE and re-install it paying close attention to your connections. After you have done this you can begin to clear your computers memory. This is also a good idea to do on each oil change. This gives the computer a clean slate which to learn from. You may even feel a performance gain just by resetting the computer alone.

1) With the key out of the ignition
2) Disconnect the Negative battery Cable.
3) Put the key in the ignition and turn it as if you where trying to the START it.
4) Release the key and leave it in the “ON†position and let it sit for 10- 15 min
5) Remove key from the ignition.
6) Re-attach the negative battery cable.
7) DO NOT TOUCH THE THROTTLE when starting the truck for the first TWO times!!!
8) Start truck and let idle till it reaches operating temperature.
9) Turn truck off for 5-10 seconds.
10) RE-START the truck but DO NOT TOUCH THE THROTTLE!
11) Let the truck return to normal idle (500-600 RPM’s)
12) Turn truck off, and then start her up and take her for a LIGHT test drive… NO WOT testing yet.
13) After driving around the block letting your computer LEARN the new air flow turn her off one last time…
14) Fire her up and drive her the way you want.

I have found this trick to remove and get rid of small gremlins of the unknown. If you have ANY questions or concerns please feel free to contact me.

So this is the modern version of turning your distributor till the motor pings or misses then bringing it back 2 degrees or run better gas.

When I used to do this on my old carb Chevy's I always had to bring it back during the hot weather or when I towed a heavy trailer.

Does the computer still compensate for the temperature correctly? Will the power wire have to be removed when it reaches 100 degrees here? What about gas, I run 87 without a problem will I have to run better gas?

I also have to throw in an opinion. I tow a massive boat, my suspension is the limiting factor, not the power of the hemi. Does anybody here really need more power? Or maybe I'm just getting old and conservative.

Default RE: power wire?

I have the same questions as HemiBuell, pre-ignition would be bad, and would I have to spend more money on higher octane gas?

Thanks in advance for your replies
