I'm curious to know if mods such as intake/exhaust that yeild significant horsepower increases will also increase capability such as towing capacity. What do you guys think? I'd really like to know if they improve stuff like this, lemme know guys!

Anytime you increase the efficiancy of your engine you also increase its ability to make power... and towing capacity would also increase as long as your mods did NOT sacrifice low end torque.

Reducing BACK PRESSURE has NOTHING to do with torque or HP... You want to ELIMINATE "back pressure" completely! For some reason people still think engines need back pressure. Backpressure has NO PLACE in the performance vocabulary.
Your exhaust needs to promote VELOCITY. If you go too large you lose velocity, if you go to small you gain back pressure if you go just right you get an exhaust system that MAKES the most power and torque.
So if you go too large you lose VELOCITY and this is why you lose low end torque... Backpressure and velocity are NOT one in the same. Back pressure is exactly what it says it is... a restriction.
But like mentioned above, chose the wrong exhaust and you could lose your low end torque.

As far as the exhaust goes, stick with something in the 2.5" out range give or take 1/4" for best results.

I personaly would go to a true single 3" ID with a High flow "Y" pipe, 3" CAT into a SI/SO high flow muff.
If you must have a dual exhaust system then go with dual 2.5" from the primarys into an "X" pipe into 2.25" true duals out the back.

What happens if I take a stock 2004 1500 hemi and just remove the resonator and replace it with a straight pipe? Will it be loud? Will it help the HP? Will it help the torque? If it isn't going to be real loud, I'd like to try it. Anyone else tried that? I can't afford a major exhaust mod right now.
