Default Fabbed a light bar...

I fabricated this light bar for my Power Wagon and installed 8" KC Rally lights... Wiring them up tonight to provide juice for the additional 1.09 million candle power

Edit: Please excuse the dirty truck... Went dirt biking this weekend where the truck got dusty on the gravel roads to our parking place and then got rained on, on the way back over the mountains.

That is really nice. Did you powder coat it when you finished? Is it bolted or welded to the truck? I bet those KC Rallies really light up the night...

Thanks!

Its bolted to the truck by sandwiching the brackets under the tow hooks. Its rock solid too, the truck moves from side to side when you yank on it. I painted it will flat black Rustoleum, two big cans! I put a scratch in it by accident but the scratch never made it through to the bare metal. I figure for the price of paint I'd see how it lasts - if it doesn't, I'll get it power coated.

Cheers,
Mark

Nice workmanship, looks like a "big company" product. What kind of bits did you use to drill the light mounting points?

Yeah I looked at the bars available commercially and also looked into any alternative ways to design it without having to modify anything on the truck. Seems there's one logical way to do it, so it does look similar to others. The height of my bar is more where I wanted the lights to sit - so they look like they are attached to the bumper top.

Dieselram - The 1/2" holes (for the lights and the bar mounting bolts) were drilled with a regular bit found in my Dewalt drill set. Drilled 1/4" holes first, then followed through with the 1/2" - and a little 3-in-1 oil to help lubricate the process.

The welds were my first MIG welds in 17 years since I did a 1 day class!

Hey Brit,

The light bar looks Great. I've been trying to find something like that for mine too. Biggest problem is they want to eleiminate the tow hooks to make the connection. One suggestion, You may want to pull it back off and send it in to be galvanized, then shoot it black. There are shops all over that can do that. And its relatively inexpensive. That way it won't rust, and its Black. Almost stainless, but not quite, at far less money!!

Thank you. I was wondering if you used a special coated bit because I don't want to chew up a bit if I can help it and I really need to add some more lights to my brush guard; two ain't cutting it on the trails at night.
