Door locks
I have a 2004 Ram QC and just yesterday the driver door won’t unlock with the remote or by me sticking the key in it.... I try turning the key to open it and the lock will move but wont open and its pretty hard to turn the key so I stopped due to I don’t want to break my key... I took the panel off only enough where I can see if I see something wrong with it but it seems to be fine.... I really don’t have the time to take it to a dealership and drop it off for a whole day for them to look it at... Do you think its something simple that I can fix??? Also when you open the door from the inside the lock will come up but as soon as you release the handle it will lock again.
Thanks in advance for your responses.

Sounds like maybe the lock button on your remote is continuously contacting. split the case and pull the battery. Then try the key. Also, see if it goes to the lock position when you pull up on the handle from inside. If thats the case, you probably need to CAREFULLY clean the contacts on your remote
The thing is if the button on the remote was keeping contact, all the doors would be locked not just the driver door... I took the panel off yesterday but nothing seem to be out of the ordinary.. I'm just going to take it to the dealership and have them take a look at.... Is it possible that someone tried to break into my truck and messed up the lock??

I Just Devolped the same problem 2004 Quadcab. I checked everything .looks good The dor opens withe the key if I turn the key and pull the handle .Does not lock or unlock using the buttons on the door panel either ..any suggestions?
I am a locksmith here in Oregon. It sounds one of the rods is bent. we have seen it caused from Attempted openings as well as the latches going bad. Ford and Nissan/Infiniti is getting so bad people are getting stuck IN the car. I would suggest call a locksmith and have them look at it. They will be cheaper than a dealer.
Side note the ignitions are prone to alot of problems after 1998 when they went to a new key adn lock design get that serviced at the same time, its a very inexpensive repair or yoou can buy teh new lock from a locksmith and have them key it for you and you can replace it in about 30 minutes of time at most.
You can reach em if you hav questions on my cell at 503-969-8100 Bill

had the same problem on a honda. what should be whats wrong is the main plug-in got wet some how either by window being cracked in the rain or from car wash. pull the connections off and clean them, an eraser works well but a cleaning solvent helps.
I Just ordered a book from tech chrysler .hopefully it will have a good diagram soI can see of a rod is bent. I dont see any scrape marks if someone tired a slim jim . I pull the inside handle and it feels like it cathces something. its not a smooth operation . thanks for the Locksmith input

I just had this issue happen today to me on my 04 Ram QC. All doors will unlock with remote except the drivers door. Lock slides up when I lift the handle from the inside however drops as soon as I let go. Did anyone ever find a cause and solution for this problem?
Thanks for the help.

I am going through the same prob. I have to order an new power lock actuator. they are not that expensive if you get them online. If you just want to fix the problem for the time being you can take the lock out of the door and remove the half moon gear that connects the motor to the lock and that will allow you to unlock it with the key until you get a new one. this is what i did and, if you want to do it and don't know how just tell me and i will walk you through it. sorry if i miss spelled anything ids've had few blue moons ofprob mores

I would check the wires in the door jam on the drivers door, pull back the rubber going from the body to the door and look for broken or bare wires. It's a common problem on vehicles with electric windows and locks.
