Default 05 1550 QC hemi 4x4 @ the track...

Ok got out to the track in fayetteville today. Made 6 or 7 passes. First impresions:

Truck is very easy to spin on the launch. I tried warming them up, one spin in the box, foreword then nice burn out... spins. I tried lowering the presure a bit, and less of a launch and it seems like the truck wanted to power brake to about 2k, then a release then firm WOT, not a stab.

It ran 87 @ the 1/4 trap all day no matter what, and around 71 no matter how bad I spun the launch.

I oulled the gate to save some tonage... no delta at all same 87 MPH. Still had the spare up there so maybe between the two both coming off it would help.

Last pass, I ran a kid in a 02 or 03 rustang GT rag top. He was all ready in his flip flops and baggies... I treed him by a .1, had him by .1 @ the 1/8 and he did come by on top by a few MPH but I was on his bumper. Still it was funny as hell. Best pass follows:

2.27 60
6.42 330
9.91 1/8th
71.09 1/8th mph
no 1000 info (took out by a bike last summer I think, still not fixed???)
15.433 1/4
87.65 1/4 mph
temp was 91 and DA was unknown

Mods are.... mobil 1 5 w 20, and a mobil 1 oil filter. This pass was with the tail gate on, little over 1/4 tank, maybe closer to 1/3 as I went out with 1/2. I left it in D, no haul and a bud took it for a run, and sugeted I shift in manualy but I had not done it in the truck soooooo I did not try.

Bluff, tons of fun for a big truck, but I need more. I have an aero 3030 muffler on the way and am trying to buy a superchips here in NC. I have 3 sets of DRs mounted on GM wheels and I need to get some race rims for this. I am sure it would do a 1.8 with some drs. I saw a 15.25 by someone and I wanted to top that, but all in all, for my first passes in the truck, I am happy. Thanks!!!

This is seriously a stock Quad Cab 4x4? If this is all true, bone stock QC 4x4, that has to be the best damn time I've ever seen. Most run really low 16's.

Bone stock down to the crappy paper filter. It ran 15.48 with a 2.3 60 @ 87 for a freind too (he drive a 2000 C5 H/C 440 rwhp and went 11.7s @ 123 slipping and slidin...). The truck was a handfull to hook on the launch like I said in the original post and trapped @ 87 all day. It was run @ fayetteville Motorsports Park here in NC.

Super chips tuner will be here Friday and my muffler tomorrow. If I can only find some mopar rims for my old MT ET St radials 275 40 17s I will be able to launch hard and be firmly in the 14s. Thanks!

Some pics of the truck:

and here is the slip... and yes, the truck was red left lane and my buds vette was in the right and yes, he spotted my 4 seconds to make it closer but still he blew past me @ 1000ft by 30mph!

Thanks!

Wow, that's impressive. Looks like I'm going to get some Mobil 1 [sm=smiley36.gif]

What gears do you have and are those 245's on 17's?

Yea I was going with Rp but damn 5w 20 is not very common around here, and my C5 allways liked mobile 1 so...

TSRS - P245/70R17 BSW All Season Tires
TZHP - Michelin Brand Tires
WF4 - 17X8.0 Alum Machined Cast Wheels
WLZC - All Aluminum Wheels
DMDS - 3.55 Axle Ratio

IMO the smaller tires and the 355 is a good final ratio, plus the those 20" chrome look great but they must weigh a ton esp unsprung. So what does everyone use for track only rims? I have DR (275 40 17 MT ET st radials) that would be perfect with the truck. I need more psses to get the launch and the tree with the truck as it takes a bit to get it rolling from a shallow stage.

I have no input on track rims, because I've never ran my truck .I'm trying to figure what axle ratio is the best. I keep hearing "4.56's" blah blah, then you lay down times like that with 3.55's in a bone stock RAM. What gives? Is the track facing a downward slope? j/k What kinda feul mileage are you getting? I went with the 3.55's mainly for feul mileage , then I read a dozen posts saying 4.56's are better for feul mileage as well.

The track is ok but is usualy .1 and 1MPh slower then the Rock. Prep usualy is not that good and the short times where not easy. I have had it 2 weeks and I have went from NC to MO and it got 18.8 MPG on the way back, cruise control @ 700 with mid grade.

I would assume gas milage would go down with higher gears, ie 456s. I know I was getting 32 MPg in my Z06 with all the mods (460 RWHP) and it dropped to 29 after a gear swap from 342 to 390. I went with 355 for the same reason.

I just recived a super chips tuner which is being updated now and I will get some new times Sunday. I still have an aero 3030 to instal and I hope to get that done Satyrday. I am shooting for 14s @ 90, and then I will go to 87 octane and it will be the DD again.

Bluff I love the truck and the biggest thing for the track with these is the rim and tire compbo. The 20s look great but they must be way heavy. I might have to buy another set of OEM rims (or something lighter) and mount some old DRs and realy launch this thing. I am having so much fun with the truck and now it is time to wake it up a bit. Thanks!
