why am I getting 8.8mpg??
When was the last time you had your airfilter changed or checked cause that could cause bad mileage too. Also make sure your tires are inflated and if you have all of the on-board computer stuff reset them all so its like your starting out from scratch and check your mileage vs your gas consumption too cause sometimes what that computer will say isnt always true. Sometimes in my 05' 1500 I can drive like 15-20 miles without my DTE dropping any or mileage changing any on it. Just a thought though.....
Racer if your 17 and driving a Hemi i know what your doing partioley because am 16 to. i am buyin a 99 RAm 1500 V8 and I already know I will be hotrodding well not much I still have diversion on my last ticket for about 5 more months so I cant geta ticket lol. I drove a 94 pontiac sunbird and even though it was a piece i raced and all and now that me and my friends are all getting trucks there are new opportunities. You know Pulling and all that crap. Dont hide the fact that you screw around lol.
I also think you should check your air filter. But to be honest it is a 1/2 pick up with a big v8, you really did not expect to get great gas mileage did you? Also, how are you figuring out your mileage? The temp/ mileage overhead? Because those things are not very accurate. Just take it easy (no more then 3000 rpm) on the gas for a week and you should see a difference.
I am 16, I have a Short Bed, 2 door HEMI Ram. I have a cheap cold air intake and a flowmaster 40 series muffler. Both help MPG, but the biggest thing that effects your gas mileage is how hard you take off from a dead stop, Only go to about 2,500 RPM's taking off and you will see better. The best I have got so far was 19.
My 2004 1500 5.7 is getting 14.5 mpg thats city and hiway combo.only time My mpg was low was durring towing my boat had to use tow/haul mode and still got 11mpg then.
well when i think of truck with a V8 the first thing that comes to mind isnt fuel economy i know its not going to be greatly efficent, but these are some great lookin trucks to me and thats all that matter
My 06 with MDS does get 22+ on the hwy.
It's all about a soft foot and cruise control.
I've driven the same route at 5 mph faster and done significantly less mpg...
Being the 'badass' and passing folks at will also leads to lower mpg.
Disconnect your battery and reset the pcm... Drive soft for a while and let it learn to behave.
It's worked for me... The power is there when you want it, but the dog calms down and plays nice when you want to be efficient.

sounds about right, i get 11.2 I have 7k miles and I have a leadfoot, i never go on the highway its all city driving. My dads srt-10 quad cab is getting about 7.5 mpg
I'd say you have a problem...take it to a dealersjip...8.8? i'm a leadfoot and the lowest i got was 13 mpg...best was 19...reset the overhead console if you have one and see how it goes
2500 ram 4x4 reg cab 5.7 six sp man 373 ltd slip....15.6 MPG ( acording to the coumputer, so varation for error ) truck is brand new, city/some high way, less than 000 200 Km on truck.....
