now that I have your attention...

Ok, stock radio sucks, sound is crap, easy fix, seats suck, I did not order the up graded seats, get them if your considering a dodge, now the six speed manual is tricky, it is a 6sp with 1 being a extra low gear, so 2nd is really first, 3rd is second, ect, I have this figured out now, synchronizers are extremely noisy, manual trans sound's likes it is low on gear oil and Reverse is down and to the left, tricky..

My truck was built in Mexico, fit and finish on the interior is a joke, the exterior is 100% perfect, truck looks awesome, Now for the good stuff, Hemi power is all their, this truck is not going to win any drag races, but at highway speeds on hills, it pulls wickidly quick in 6th gear ( truck is empty ) , First time in four years I have drivin a manual trans, so I'm rusty and not used to the truck but I like it for the bigger reg cab and the ride is not that bad for a 3/4 ton truck, stearing is tight, point shift and go...

Now the cup holders, I only have two, the Ford reg cab had four, the dodge radio has a plug in for a I pod, 12 volt power source in fold down console, and I want to yank out the uguly mini plastic thing a ma gig on the floor...

I really like my 2500 reg cab SLT, I put on 030 Km on it, 047 KM total on the OD...my issues are so minor...the radiow is going, the plastic mini console on the floor is going, and I miss the manual lumbar suport's that are standard on a Ford XLT, should have got the upgraded seat package...... But I'm happy with my truck

cyclone429,

I understand about the tranny, I have one too. You will find, in time, as you get more familiar with the tranny, that the shifting will become "normal" It will start quieting down also. I'm assuming you have 3.73 gears in back. Just give it some time to break in. Everything is extra tight at first. I noticed mine start changing after around 5k miles. It will continue the change--for the better-- beyond the 5k mark. I passed 1 ram and 2 semi's all in a line on the way to work this morning. They were doing the infamous 50-55-60-50-45.
We started at around 50, from 4th gear, blew past the last truck at 90+. Just give it some time. Oh, and I settled to a meager 60 and engaged the cruise.---NO PROBLEMS!!!

Buyer's remorse?

You did test drive it before you bought it? right? I am a little confused, as I don't do metric, and can't tell if you've driven the truck for 30km or 30,000km..
(If the latter, you should have discovered your issues quite a long time ago...)
If you've only put 30km on the truck, which I think is about 21 miles, and are complaining this loudly about fit/finish/handling/etc, it only confirms my guess that you bought it sight-unseen and without a test-drive... WORST POSSIBLE MISTAKE IN BUYING A VEHICLE!

Even though they roll off an assembly line, building a car/truck isn't all that dissimilar from building a house... Some turn out great from day 1, some need some (or a lot!) of touch up... If you got issues, go back to the dealer and cause a scene... Make them make it right... If they don't/can't, file a lemon lawsuit... That's what the law is there for.

I must admit, I do find it a little odd to hear someone whining about a radio, seats, and shift pattern in a brand new truck... Most folks would have discovered these issues during a test-drive and would never have bought it in the first place....

this truck is a virgin, factory order....Reg cab's are are hard to find, I took a chance and ordered one after driving 2500 quad cabs with the stick, now I'm not down on this truck, it's awsome. but being a ex Ford guy and new to dodge, booth the strengths and weekness of booth brands are evidant, this Ram is one I can work on, I'm am surprised at the open nature of the frame on the ram, were as my Ford had a fully boxed frame.....now the 04 F-150 may claim to built better, but that truck's 5.4 3 V engine was a joke, the hemi is awsome and because I'm so into my 2500 I'm picking up how its was built every time I look at it from a differant angel, what ever I don't like, I can change, not a big deal..

1. good coat of wax is going on the truck.
2. seat covers and extra HD floor mats are a must
3. Paint the inside/underside of the cab, fenders and box with a good rust protection paint, nothing their but galvanized metal, I'm skeptical on dodge can offer a five year warenty on rust protection..
4. Chrome nurf bars, wheel to wheel
5. mud flaps
6. head ache rack or a topper...not sure on this yet....
7. spray in box liner if I get the HA rack, if I go topper, no spray in liner
8. dumping the stock ex system, or replacing the muffler
9. skid plate over the flue tank, I ordered the protection package, with that you get tow hooks and transfer case skid plate
10. buy a rusty pos truck to take to work, the dodge is to nice...

OK, so you test drove a quad cab then????
Guess what, they have the same radio as a reg. cab.
If you didn't like it, why didnt you go for the Infinity system?

Fit and finish...are pieces loose? rattling? scuffed? scratched?
That is why we have what is called a warranty.
We have replaced $1300 wheels under warranty because it came off the transport with a small chip in the wheel (and I mean SMALL).
This was on a Pacifica.

Premium Seat...that is up to each person I guess. I have it, and would recomend it because you get the extra storage in the center console. The lumbar doesn't mean much to me, but I like the power.

And please tell me your kidding about the gear pattern.
How petty is that?
Ya it's really tough to learn to go down and left rather than up and right.
It took a moron like me all of 5 minutes of parking/sales lot manuvers to figure that out.

Sorry for my rant.

There are four cup holders in the Ram 1500. Look in the center floor in front of the rear seats....two cup holders. Granted they are not practical in front or back if you have a person seated in the center, but they are there.

Interior on my Daytona Ram is very nice and tight. Not sure why you are having problems. I have the NAV radio and I am quite happy with the sound. If I want to blow the doors off then I drive my Charger Daytona with the Boston Accoustics sound system.

Was there a particular reason you wanted a manual tranny? Each one drives differently and you have to get used to it. Don't expect to know it after 40km.

What mini plastic console are you referring to? The flip down one from the center? What are you going to do with it? If you remove it then it'll look pretty funny IMO. Just leave it in place but don't open it if it bothers you so much.

Do you really need rust proofing? Do you live in a part of the country that uses a lot of road salt? Do you live in a high salt-air environment, like right on the beach? Most dealers don't even offer rust proofing anymore because the steel used on vehicles today is much better than it was 20 years ago. I had an Isuzu trooper for over 6 years and a Honda Accord for almost the same amount of time and neither of them ever had rustproofing. They never showed any signs of rust within that time. If you wash your car on a regular basis even in the winter rust should really not be an issue. I haven't even seen an ad on TV for rustproofing in over a decade or more.

lastly, I thought the Ram pickups were all made in St Louis, not Mexico...........

Most of the 3/4 - 1 ton trucks are made in a plant in mexico. My half ton (sitting on a railroad car in Indiana as I type) was made in Michigan. Apparently dodge has plants in a few different places for their trucks.

Like what the hell is the problem.....I like my truck, been four years since I dove a manual trans, the stick on the quad cab was fine, I had no problems, that truck was used, I got the shifting down, no problems now, as far as the cup holders, ok I admit thats petty...but oh well, and the base radio, I never turned it on in my test drive, a a fter market system can fix that and a pair of seat covers, I'm wasent going to spend 1300.00 for a top line infinity system...I'm impressed with the power ride and room ( reg cab ) that is what led me to dodge.....I'm converted...
