The absolute LOUDEST EXHAUST

AIR RAM - Thats really an interesting concept. I'm in the same boat as timmy.
Going this Thurs for air intake/ new exhaust.
I was planning on keeping the cat & resinator, then adding in either the Flowmaster 50 HD or Aero 3030.
BUT... you do have a clever idea there. One I might see if the speed shop can do. Remove stock muffler, fill with straight pipe. If too loud, add in one of those two.
I'm going nuts debating on a combo for exhaust though.
With air intake... the debate is
1) just drop in K&N to factory set up
2) The K&N 3" tube/with cone set up.
Oh the choices...

Hey, I just had the muffler cut out and kept the cat, and had a y pipe installed to get the dual run out the back with 18x3 and a half inch chrome tips pointed out at each corner of the bed. I've had nothing but compliments on it and haven't had any problems with cops. It sounds really good, either at idle, mid range or high rpm. Has a real throaty tone at idle and mid range and was told at high rpm it sounds like nascar, especially when I'm passing someone. Cost was 120 bucks for the whole thing. I was really worried about how loud it would be in the cab before I did it, but I have to say, since it is run all the way out the back, cruising down the highway at 70mph, it's really not that lound in the cab, u can definately hear it and it has a good tone, but it's not so loud that you can't talk normally to the person in the passengers seat. It's just something for ya to think about. BTW, I have an 02 with the 4.7, pics of it are in my gallery. Any questions, feel free to ask

If you just want loud, just cut off everything and make it straight pipes all the way back.

Keep your cats and downflow O2 sensor and you won't cause any harm.
I did it on my 95 and my 97 when I was young and crazy, and I never heard a word about it from any police.
The cut-outs would be a worse fix...because now your coming out right behind the cats with NO pipe. That would honestly sound horrible.

Ummm.....What would be wrong with that?

To answer the original question...I run a Flowmaster Super 40 with single inlet and dual outlet, and it exits before the right rear tire. Looks sharp and is loud as hell. It's a good loud too. Not the kind of crappy loud you get from open headers or straight pipes. And it was ridiculous with my headers and hi flows.
