Default Speed Restrictor??

Ok, my new Dodge 5.7 litre Hemi is restricted to 105 MPH, is this something new? It sure gets there in a hurry but sticks right at 105. Does anyone know what kind of governor/restrictor is used and if it can be safely changed?

No, the majority of domestic vehicles built for the last 20 or so years have had limiters...maybe even longer [>:]

There is a wayyyyyyy.

When you hit the 105 mark, turn your key to the start position and it will be bypassed.
HOWEVER, your speedo stops working as well as you ABS.

It is a dangerous thing to do but I did it 100 times before the superchips came out.

Just spend the $400 on the superchip so you don't have to do the key trick. With the superchip you can set the speed limiter to 140mph I believe.

Yeah but a ram can hit atleast 130mph. Friend with the superchip hit 120mph then he counted to 15 so he it atleast 130mph.

Kick it out of OD, and you could sqeeze another 9mph.
At least you could with the 5.9L gassers.

Why anyone would want to speed in a 3ton brick, I'll never know. But if you must, the programmers are the way to go. BTW, mine stops at 108
