anybody else hate...
the way their Ram shifts. i have a 2005 straight cab 4x4 5.7 and i absolutely hate the soft shifts. anyone have a good solution? can the dealership adjust the shift firmness? do i need a shift kit? i know it is all elctronic. i have heard rumors of being able to adjust this with a some chips. shift points are fine but i want something that will snap some necks not wait 2 seconds between gears.
My Hypertech programmer firmed the shifts up SOME. It's more noticeable when really gettin on it, seems like there's less slop especially going from 1st to 2nd. The Hypertech tuner asks you during the programming process whether you want firmer shifts or not. It does not offer any kind of shift point adjustment though.
I'm not sure if the Superchips or other programmers firm up shifts but this one did a pretty good job of it.

It's not so much the shift quality that bothers me, but the trans programming that does. It is lazy to kick down, and when it finally does it always chooses one gear higher than it should have. It's like hammering on a stick shift car in 3rd when you should be in 2nd, 4th when you should be in 3rd, etc...etc...
I just flat out dont like the throttle responce it bugs me that it takes a second or two to move when I want to punch it!! Im hoping that the superchips Flashpaq Im getting will take care of that cause you can adjust the shift points

I want to get a flashpaq for my 05 powerwagon 5.7 hemi. I have 37" tires on it. Does the 3815 allow a setting for tires this big? Also have they yet been able to do anything for the lousey down shifting? I would hate to spend the money on something that won't do what I want it to do.

Lets remember we are driving a truck, not a sports car. The tranny is designed to shift like this so when you are hauling 1500 pounds, or pulling 6000 pounds you do not rip the tranny apart.
