Does anybody have a clue why my lamp out light sporatically comes on then goes out on my dash. All lights outside appear to work fine. The lamp out light will come on and ding then go out. Has anybody had this problem?

 

Your tailights in the rear are probably loose. You can pull the rear tailights off, put a dab of dielectric grease and since you are in there anyway, just replace the bulbs.

 

Any secrets or tips to pulling the tail light assy out?

I seem to be having this same problem that you are. I thought I was the only one. The dealership thinks i'm crazy. My truck seems to do it at speeds of of 70+, not sure if it the same with yours. When it starts dinging i have pushed the brakes and it seems to stop dinging. I work 600 miles from my house on a drilling rig in west texas so the dinging noise has made me crazy. I am going to try cleaning the sockets and replacing the bulbs, I will post my results.

 

Great news man. Mine was doing the same thing... check the little bitty lights that illuminate the license plate in the rear when you turn on your head lights. Had one out and did not notice it for a few days

I had the exact same problem... It happened at about 70mph and when I hit the brakes it stopped for about a half hour then would start again. I have noticed one of my license plate lights is out! CRAP! I didnt even think of that! I will replace it right away, hope this fixes it. It's driving me crazy!!!

 

Thanks for all the advice guys. I too noticed one of my liscense plate lights are out, I will have to change it. Its funny how that lamp out light will come on and go out, won't stay on the whole time your driving. Also why would that light come on if you dont have your running lights on. How does the truck know its out, these new trucks are to smart for their own good sometimes. Over the weekend I also had my ABS and brake light come on in the truck when I was doing about 70 ready to climb a big hill. After climbing the hill and driving another 10 miles I pulled over, stoped the truck, shut it off then started it back up and the ABS and brake light went away, now I'm wondering what caused that to happen???

 

When the Lamp Out light goes off and on, that means you have a bulb fixing to go out. I had that happen on one of my tail lights. Of course when the bulb finally went out, the Lamp Out stayed on all the time.
