thinking 4.10 gears
hey all,
ive been reading all the posts about 4.56 and all so i have figured that im going to go with 4.10's because my commute to work is all highway and its 65 and over and i usually do like 75ish depending how late i am that day, the only reason im not going to 4.56's is becuse of all the highway driving and want to keep somewhat okay gas mileage, i know its a truck but last month i spent 500 on gas alone, so i figure that the 4.10's will give me a good bang for my buck, in acceleration and high gear.. any input is always apperciated as usual, hopin to get the 4.10 in about a month or so

My wife has been driving this week to see what kind of mileage the 4:56's get. I'm not real concerned as I did it more for towing but we are just checking it out for poops and grins. At 1/2 tank she is a 225 miles. Unfortunately we will not be able to finish the mileage test. She left tonight to help her daughter move with a bed of crap and towing a 10' trailer with a 4' gate full of stuff.
She is also a 60 to 65 mph driver and makes old people mad.......
If your like me and have a heavier foot, you wont see that mileage. BTW, the 4:56's only raised the RPM's by 300 at 70 mph.

Yeah, I installed the CAI on Tuesday afternoon and the gauge said 155.x and was just under 3/4 tank. I went in and asked her if she had put any more gas in the truck or was that the original fill-up. She said it was origiinal and "is that good?" I just stared at her. The fill up was 24.6 gallons on a 26 gallon tank so it was pretty empty when we started.
She usually drives the 36 mpg Geo so by comparison the mileage in the truck sux but, obviously something has changed after the swap. I usually get about 315-325 to a tank myself before the swap.

Here's final mileage on my first full tank after the gear swap. Remember I did not do it for mileage but for towing. Also, my wife towed a full truck and trailer with a 4' tall gate for about 45 miles and then back empty on this tank of gas.
Final fuel mileage is..........
drum roll please............
17.5mpg
More responsive truck. No difference in mileage. Results will vary depending on driving style. I really don't care about the mileage or I never would have bought the truck. When I want to save gas, I'll drive the Geo. When I want to haul the camper, the truck. When I want to just have fun, it's the Jeep all the way baby!

oh i know results will vary, thats not bad at all for a full size truck, i try and keep my driving habits good cause gas is killing me right now till i get a better job, but im almost 20 and its really hard not to put my foot down and go fast, but i must not have a heavy foot right now, what am i saying its so much more fun with my foot in it!!! lol [8D] actually on the overhead im reading 17.1mpg because im trying to keep my lead filled right foot out of the pedal and when i drive on the highway im doing 65mph seeing what this tank will average, cause when im on the highway and i have the overhead on instant mpg and its stays really between 21-23mpg susposidly from whats its showing. but only the numbers in the end will show the truth..
