Warranty Work Run around?
HoustonHEMI I bought the truck from Spring. Is that where you got yours?
Ram_Sport that would be nice if they could get me the same truck. But now the dealer is calming no problem/could not duplicate problem. So I don't know how that will work with the lemon law. Yeah but your right it wont take that much to tint and spray in order to get a new one. A trade I will be willing to make.
Frogslinger thats funny that the Dodges customer care guy told me 3 attempts. I wonder if thats there own standard or he just didn't know what he was talking about. But when I told that to the service manager he told me that it was much more completed then just 3 attempts. And he does not think that this water leak would justify the lemon law.
All in all I just want my tuck fixed. I have only had it 2 days out of the past 2 weeks. Not to mention you cant pull a boat on the weekends with the crappy little rental car they provide.

Thought Dodge would know about this but I have heard of the sunroof drain tube either coming off or getting plugged, either way, most times resulting in a puddle inside the vehicle. I believe this tube runs down the passenger side door pillar. I know I have seen multiple entries to this effect here on the site. Dealer should know instantly about this. I have the sunroof too and am problem-less to this point. Hope it helps

Yes and I've had the same problems from Spring Dodge. I live only 7 miles from there down 2920. In fact, what makes this strange is I know the owner!
We're not particully friends but have taked over drinks before. My truck is only 4 months old and I'm getting emails from their service department saying my truck is due for it's 115,000 mile check. Can you believe that, 115,000 miles in only 4 months!..BWAHAHA!
H.H.

well if they cant duplicate the problem do you have pictures to prove the leaks like if u can next time get some pics of the truck outside and work ur way inside and snap some of the leak for evidence, then say hey look at these pics, does it rain in these new dodges or is there a leak? have one of those butt head dealer dudes, no offense to dodgedlr, but the guys from your dealer specifically look over the problem w/ u, im sure u can dupe the problem. either way it is still somehow leaking water into the truck,
when i was sold my truck there was an ungodly gap in the steering alignment and it was so wide that i swerved a lil to keep it straight i got over it but nagged my dad about it, finally he takes it for a ride again, we take it to the richmond dealer here in mich and they say its got like 1 or 2 bad parts under the front end so that it may be a lil unsafe, my dad says sonofab! so we take it to the original dealer hoping they will be truthful and not go over it and say nothing is wrong w/ it thats why we go to richmond to have backed up knowledge there is something really wrong!
damn genious, we get there hand em the keys sit in a wating room, a lady comes back in about 20-30 minutes, we have to talk about this here problem w/ your truck, you need $2,300 in new parts, my dad says well we cant afford that so we will discuss it and be on our way, but the lady says no sir the vehicle is really unsafe to be driven right now so that might not be a good idea. my dad goes so you sold my kid an unsafe truck, he coulda got hurt badly if anything under the front decided to go... get this through some talking and mean faces and reasoning we got parts+labor=free, and basicly my front end steering components and other such parts are all newly replaced
happy me.
so they treated me nicely wtf is your dealers problem???

I have no idea what his problem is. Seems like the repairs/parts cost is coming out of his pocket. He told me that his so called tech sprayed the truck for an hour with a pressure washer and could not get it to leak. Told him thats funny because me and my low pressure water hose had it leaking within 2 minutes. And also rain causes it to leak. So I told him to put the pressure washer up and get out a water hose and give it a go. Haven't heard anything else since then.
Jetpig I think you may be right about the tube. Because there is no sign of water on the head liner. Its puring out of the top screw hole on the A pillar handle. Is there a joint in that area where the two tubes come together that might have came loose?

What about Dodges extended warranty, I bought the 5year 100K mile extended warranty that they offered. Doesn't that allow for a rental car?

Any DCSC with 5/100 miles (reguardless if its the cheap or most expensive plan) is considered a "Major Plan".
All Major Plans come with rental car provisions.
Some even have "First Day Rental" which allows for a rental car for ANY dealership visit (except body work) reguardless of how long the repair takes.... We give all our service contract customers a rental when we do oil changes just to collect the extra $35 from DCSCs - they might never leave the lot, but we give it to them.
Any "larger" dealership I have been to either has "in-house" rentals (like we do) or actually have an Enterprise nearby.
DCX has an agreement with Enterprise to only charge the amount covered by DCSCs.
Dodgedir it is DiamlerChryslers Service Contract. I cant remember the name of it but he gave me a brochure and it had like 5001 or 7001 items that are covered. It was a little over $2400 for the contract. The bigger dealer that I bought and have the truck at now has Enterprise at the dealer. But the service guy told me that I would have to pay for anything over $35. So I promptly told him I wasn't paying a dime. Then the Enterprise guy asked me if I wanted insurance and I told them no. He told me I was liable for any damages. I told him that he could take that up with Dodge if any damages are done.
I'm sorry if I'm being a butt about the whole deal but when a 3 month old $36K sticker truck leaks. And one dealer sees it leaking but cant fix it and the other dealer cant get it to leak and wants to get rid of it. It kinda puts me in a bad mood. Not to mention he wasn't going to give me a rental because it was only going to take 2-3 hours and now has turned into a full day. With no work being done yet!

I certainly understand your frustration.
But DCX has an agreement with Enterprise that they should only charge $35 when covered by a service contract.
If they want to charge you more, then they are just trying to jack you. (my 2 cents)
And I think that first dealer treated you like crap!
I know there are a lot of times when we wanted to give up on a job, but we have NEVER sent a customer to another dealer.

Thanks Dodgedir for your info. The rental car was $35 but they wanted me to pay the taxes and insurance on it. But now the dealer called me up saying that they could not get it to leak, and it shows no signs of ever leaking. So we had a few cross words. Now I have to go up there and show them that it really leaks. He also made a commit about he was still going to eat the $35 for the rental. Is there some kinda catch in the service contract that they will not pay for a rental if no trouble was found? Also is there any way to report this ***** to DC?
Yes, I do believe there is a joint in the tube. I know I have read at least 15 posts on the same thing. Good luck. D-Dealer, I know you might be able to provide some reference to this as well but it just seems that most dealer service departments have a huge problem thinking outside the box as far as figuring out things. I have done all my own mx since I was a kid. No special training or anything like that but it seems as if some just plain common sense can get to the root of a problem some times. I have had the routine of "that doesn't show up in out service manual like that" so that cant be what it is.
I went in for a tire rotation a while back with my 05. I forgot at the time but my sliding window in the back seemed unusually loose, kind of like the glass was loose in the frame. Just asked if they would look at it and tell me if it was OK or if something needed to be done. I was told that I needed to make a separate appointment for that since it wasn't on the work sheet of what I came in for. I think for the most part, dealers do an OK job, sometime seems as if they hire the most inexperienced people to work on your vehicle though. I expect the dealer to be the specialist.
