If you want to spend a little more the borla exhaust is awesome. Its not as loud as say a flowmaster 40. If you want to go with a more mellow sounding flowmaster go with the 50 series.

Magnaflow also makes a good exhaust that would not be as loud as a flowmaster 30 or 40 series. Depends on what you want to spend and how loud you want it to be.

I love my Borla Cat-Back System its a very nice high quality exhaust system easy to bolt on quieter than the flowmasters but it has a big bite to back up its bark unlike some systems out there. MPG wise I went from 14.5mpg - 16.1mpg (hand calculated not going by the overhead, OH=16.7mpg) as for the HP and Torque increases well I cant really tell you dyno wise but it made my truck go from loosing to a SS by half a truck length to beating by almost 2 full truck length (Same Stock SS both times same driver same road same place same conditions.). The only don side to this truck is that it will run you roughly $750 for the system installed but it was worth every penny.

Also what type and year truck are you thinking of putting a system on? If its a newer ones and has MDS I would strongly suggest doing your homework on it cause almost all of the aftermarket systems that can be put on the trucks with the MDS system sound horrible when the MDS kicks in. Ask anyone who has put one on and they will al say the same thing. So just be careful

I said it once and I'll say it another 500 times.......I love my Flowmasters Super 40s. Had it installed about 3 months ago and it sounds great. Kind of sounds like a Mustang with the old Flowmaster 40s.

You dont have to worry about MDS its a fuel saver on the newer rams that basically cut off 4 of your 8 cylinders to give you the fuel economy when you hit criusing speed. The flowmaster series are just different applications and sounds the 30's are for more of a hot rod the 40's are for lound exhaust lovers and the 50's are more mild

it did help my mileage a little bit, but since i drive with a lead foot its hard to tell ya exact numbers. As for installation i had a muffler shop do it for me cause it was a little bit cheaper but they did a horrible job.. my pipes leaked in like 4 spots and for some reason they welded a rod straight to the pipe instead of using a muffler clamp... but the weld kept breakin so i had my neighbor fix it right. But thats just what happend to me, im sure yours will go in perfectly fine, ill post pictures in a few when i get em loaded. But i put the exhaust on my 2005 Ram 1500

Yeah.. i had to use zip ties to keep my right pipe up...
