Built a SLT with a close but still less ammenities for MSRP $38,415. Why not go with Laramie trim and get the extras? I understand about the pricing, im going to give it a shot >>>>>>>

I was just pointing out that there are a lot of good deals out there right now. I only paid $19K for mine which was a $14,600 discount off of MSRP, your<potential> truck has a higher MSRP so you should be able to get a similar if not the same discount. Dodge is sitting on a 4-6 month supply of full sized trucks with the 07's right around the corner and dealers don't want to sit on a bunch of 06's in their lot with 07's showing up. I think you can squeeze a bit more out of the deal IMO. Then again you have a guy from a dealership telling you to go for it, either way I think you'll be happy with your purchase.

I wasn't necessarily looking for a new truck this year but kept seeing these ad's for these Rams and after a couple of weeks decided to take a look. Generally you see a price like that and think its one of those "only one at this price" type deals but this dealer advertised over 80 in stock at that price.......when I showed that ad to another dealer they immediately offered to match it and came out with pretty much the exact same ad the next week.

Maybe they aren't sitting on as many Laramie editions so they won't discount as much?

I've said this over and over again and I seem to be ignored because it's an "L" word but, see if you can lease the truck. Check incentives and get the dealership to combine the lease incentive with the cash back. It will save you even more money. Then go to a credit union, become a member and refinance within about 30 days. Don't worry about what rate they ( the dealership) put you at just negoitate the total payoff of the truck and get it in writing. I have not checked Dodge.com lately though so I don't know if the lease incentives are still there.
This is all assuming you have good to strog credit.
It save me another $5000 off my truck.

Yikes !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I did not know this was just a 2WD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You should be able to drive this home for +/- $29,000
Try to squeeze another couple hundy out of 'em - or some freeby acc..
But it's still a fair price.

I think the money that you are leaving on the table here is within the $500.00 over invoice. I am on my 3rd Dodge truck, and I have never negotiated a deal starting over the invoice price. That's the first thing that I tell the salesman when I walk in the door, my deal starts at invoice price.

When you go back to the dealer, work on that money that is over the invoice price.

Ok I wasn't to happy with the color of the one I found so far. So I took about 20 minutes scouring DOdge.coms dealer list, and those without there inventory available online - I went ahead and sent an email with my specific requirements. I ended up sending a template email to 10 dealerships, the first one who responded was the best dealership I've ever delt with.

Even with my particular options I wanted, I ended up finding the perfect one thru a dealer about 35 miles from me (Hunter Dodge, Lancaster, CA) The truck is coming from up north (300+ miles away) but its Perfect to the T in options I wanted - even color inside and out.

Here it is:

2006 DODGE RAM 1500 LARAMIE QUAD CAB 4X2

Exterior Color: Flame Red
Interior Color: Medium slate gray leather

Laramie Pkg 26H $960
Trailer Tow Group $335
3.92 Axle Ratio $50
Anti-Spin Differential Rear Axle $ 285
5.7L HEMI Multi Displacement Engine $ 995
Navigation System w/6-CD/MP3 Player $ 1,595
UConnect Hands-Free Communication $ 275
20"x9.0" Chrome Clad Aluminum Wheels $ 520
P275/60R20 BSW All Season Tires

Power Fold away Heated Trailer Tow Mirrors
Power Sun Roof
Tow Hooks
Under Rail Bed Liner.

MSRP @ Dodge.com: $38,980
Dealer Price $29,036.00. Before Tax / Lic.

I put the deposit down yesterday and the driver arivved tonight with the truck. Im set to go in tomorrow 11AM to pick it up. Every truck I found until now was close to my preference, but this one is exact. The trade-in was the deal breaker if they didnt give me what I wanted for it - but they went over. Feel like I got a fair deal.

Cant wait to pick it up - even more excited now that its my taste down to the last option and color.

Will post pics tomorrow =) Thanks for all the input / help.

Go in on the 31st and tell the dealer you'll take it for $28k and walk out if they don't go for it.
You won't get 3 feet past the door before they beg you to come back into the showroom.
