Whats the difference between an 06 1500 2WD and 4x4 for lifting?
Can anyone tell me what is different about the 06 2WD that makes it so the 4x4 lifts wont fit? All I want is a 2-3" leveling kit for my 06 1500 2WD, but everything is 4x4 only... what gives?
cheap way to do it would be go and look for some spring spacers, but i dont have experience with them so i couldnt tell how well they work. and my question to u is, why raise it to make it level when u could lower the rear and make it level? never could understand why guys with 2wd trucks wanna raise em [sm=dontgetit.gif]
cause its a truck.... raised trucks 2wheel drive or not still benefit from the added space. i have a two wheel drive because i had no reason for a 4 so i saved myself the money. its also quicker than the 4

2wd has independant front suspension utilizing torsion bars. All you need to do to raise/lower the truck is adjust the torsion bars and have the vehicle realigned.
4wd has independant front suspension utilizing coil springs. For those, you either need a spring spacer kit or an entire new spring.
It's a change they made for 2006...(or was it 2005?) Either way, all the 1/2 tons from 02,03,04 (and maybe 05) had torsion bars regardless of 2wd/4wd configuration. Now only the 2wd 1/2 tons utilize torsion bars, which is the way it should be

I did not know a 2wd has torsion bars? I thought that only the 4wd have them.? So where are the torsion bars on a 2wd?

I am going off of what The Burning Rom said, as far as I know the 2WD's dont have torsion bars.
