When Should I see

RE: When Should I see
Yeah, I just could not justify the crap mileage my SD was getting. The biggest thing was that it was eating 1.5 qts of oil every 3K. I was getting a bunch of smoke at start up and the dealer tried playing this, "I must be all the mods" crap. I was fuming, as the motor was BONE STOCK.
Soooo, I was peaking around at new SD's, but they think that damn PowerChoke is like gold and didn't want to budge on the prices. I went and looked at the Dodge and before I even opened my mouth, the salesman is giving me 10K off the list price and after a little haggling, I end up with a 46K truck for 33K. Made out good on the old truck too, sooooooooo......new truck, lower payment, and a CTD. I was happy.
I know how you feel about the new truck. I couldn't believe that the loaner that they gave me for a few days with the 4.7 V8 was only getting around 14 - 15 MPG, and I was babying it just to see what it would get. Well, I guess we pay a price to drive a truck (i.e. fuel mileage).
I'm usually poking around in the diesel section in here. Give me a holler if ya need anything.

RE: When Should I see
I feel cheated ma self. I would ve gone with the V8 and gotten the same or closer mileage. Next truck will not be a dodge. On top of false advertisement, their maintenance schedule is like every 5 miles and $100's. I asked that dumbass sob Dr. Z why their trucks need differential service every 15,000 miles and ford every 150,000. He responded I should check my book. If I dont do the service I can forget my 7/70.
I have 18,000 miles and the mpg did not improve. I added the 20's so its worst now but I dont care anymore. Everyone says that its a heavy truck for a V6 and I believe it. I am saving to get another truck, but not dodge.

I now have 3000 miles on the truck first oil change and couple tanks of gas latter I am now getting 17.8 MPG it still could be better but it sure beats 10 MPG and $110.00 a week in gas just so I can get to work and back.
Maybe this time next year I mite see this so called 21 MPG Ha Ha.
Then once again if I win the Lotto forget MPG I get me a one of those Hot Rod V-10 Ram's.

RE: When Should I see
Just rememeber how the EPA tests for fuel economy. When you see 21mpg on the highway, that reading was done at 54.5mph, no joke. They don't test for fuel economy at normal driving speeds, and especially not at higher than normal like most of us drive (75-80mph). And with your 3.7 V-6 you'll have to keep your foot into the throttle longer than a V-8 when getting up to speed. So where is the fuel savings there? Just my .02$

RE: When Should I see
I now have 12000 miles on the clock and still getting about 17.8 MPG Oh well next time I going with Cummings it will get about the same MPG and won't be under powered.
Maybe if I gave it a super dupper wax job my MPG will jump up to 30 MPG plus I already change the air in my tires to winter air and changed the washer fluid to the winter brand, I will try to grease the bummper and muffler bearings next, and yea the the johnson rod been adjusted weekly.

RE: When Should I see
I just got my truck a month ago, and have been getting 15 mpg, the sales man told me it will get good mileage, because it is a V-6. I had this concern before I bought it, I guess I should have come on here first. It has the K&N filter kit on it, and it was very dirty....I bought the cleaning kit for it this morning, and bought a bottle of Lucas oilfuel injector cleaner, so hopefully I see a little better mpg, I traded my Dakota in for this truck and was getting 17-18 with it, but I like this truck alot, so I guess I'll just have to deal with the gas consumption. Oh by the way I set the cruise at 60 mph and it is all highway miles.

RE: When Should I see
hmm... i was avereaging 15 mpg in my 2006 v6. now i have the 2007 HEMI and am averaging 14.8 mpg. and it has only 2,200 miles on it! my v6 had 18,000 and was only getting 15 mpg. what a shame. i noticed that the first thing they wanna sell you is the v6. it doesnt sell well at all! its a scam really. now you know, v6's arent meant for full size pick ups. the v6 in a dakota is fine! but the body of the v6 is the body i ahve on my HEMI, same amt. of weight, but easier on the engine when you got the HEMI or the 4.7L.
