Default When Should I see

I just sold my old 2002 Ford F-250 4X4 gas hog for a new Dodge 1500 with 3.7 V-6 to get better MPG so far it not much better I have 500 mile on it so far I only getting around 14 MPG I do mostly HWY driveing at 70 MPH.

The truck rated 17-21 I know this will be a little lower but not 14 MPG, I thought when I traded my V-8 Ford for this new truck my 10 MPG days were gone.

But so far I like the truck but being under powered is something I trying to get use to but if the MPG go's up it be worth it.

I dont drive the truck hard at all I turning 2100 RPM'S up on the hwy this is low any lowwer i be chuging the motor I was reading up about the truck it saids I should see improvment in MPG around 4000 mile mark if not it's going back to the dealer.

I have the paper work stating what it should get for MPG I know it be less but not 14 MPG.

Check your tire pressure and of course make sure you are in 6th gear! (believe it or not, my dad didn't know that my 06 was a 6 spd, unlike my 03 which was a 5 spd., for the first few times he drove it) Also, I assume you are checking by the odometer, not overhead console (if you have the option). At 1200 miles, I have been getting 17-18 average on my 06 V6 with 75-80% freeway and I average 65-68 mph or under 2000 rpm. It seems more gutless than my 03 V6, especially with the 3:21 gears vs. the 03s 3:55, but it is starting to loosen up a little.

I Did the same. Bought the v6 for mileage was very depressed. Mileage empty was great. On the Highway I would get between 20-22 on a 3000 mile trip to CA and Back. But the minute I put a small trailer on it My mileage went to CR@%. Got 11 mpg with trailer and trying to go 70 if I was lucky. The problem was the Auto tranny kept going into over drive (does not allow lockout) and by the time it shifted to 3rd it was to late on the uphill! I did everything but chip it. Intake filter, Intake throttle body spacer, and Muffler. I traded that puppy in for a diesel. Towing the same trailer (anyspeed I want) I get between 12mpg at 75mph and 17 mpg at 65. This is my third diesel and love it! If anyone wants an almost new 03-04 v6 PowerAid Throttle body spacer 300-563 let me know. Picture of my truck and trailer and TBS.

I now on my 4th tank I getting 16.8 MPG not to happy with the MPG but the truck only has 1800 miles on it some times I think for the money off set as in I have one more year to pay on this truck maybe I should of keep the old gas hog I was hopping for better MPG.

I put at least 3000 to 4000 miles on it before I ask Dodge whats up with the MPG is there something a miss with this truck, I drive it very easy like a old man on sunday only RPMing past 3000 RPM's getting up to speed get up on the HWY other wish staying under 2100 short shifting most of the time keeping the shift point around 2500 RPM's.

My wifes Chrysler T/C Mini van gets 23 MPG it has the big V-6 it hers and I think It weights more and she a lead foot.

I dont get it.

Hey Marv, it's BFR............errrrrr, cumminalong!

I got rid of my SD too. I traded it in on a CTD though. Getting MUCH better MPG than I was with the V10.

I had a 1500 4.7 as a loaner for a few days and that thing was terrible on gas. Not nearly what I thought it would get.

Holler at me if ya get a chance.

Hey BFR So you Swicthed Also I see stay In touch.

I would of liked a CTD my self But payments are to much for me I was upside down in my old FORD the rebates and the employee pricing got in to the new Dodge.

I had a 1997 PSD I wish I keeped that truck it got 19.9 MPG Empty 13 MPG Pulling my 35 foot 14000 RV but the big lay off back in 2001 made me turn that truck back in to Ford I had 5 more payments to go we tryed to keep that truck I would still have it.

So far I like the dodge but MPG could be better It kind of bad being under powered and not great MPG but life go's on when I win the Lotto I get one of those SRT trucks.
