Default eBay Cold Air Intake?

Has anyone used the cold air intake from "chromeintakes" found on eBay? I've never bought anything on eBay, but this looks ok. It also looks like something I could make myself given enough time to find all the parts. If you are using it, does it seem to make as much difference as the K&N FIPK? Is it worth the $45 to get it? Also, was it easy to get from the seller? Thanks for any help and suggestions.

I know there are a few guys here that have used them and like the results. I just ordered one yesterday for my hemi (the 3 piece with the K&N). It'll be here in 5 days and I'm going to put it right in when it comes to my door. I'll let you know how it goes. The only thing that I'm not the keenist on with these setups is the lack of heatshield. There was a post a few days ago about this same subject discussing alternatives for heatshields. This is why I went with the 3 piece because it snakes it down to almost behind the bumper instead of up top by the hood. Do a search through the guys store to find more options because not all of them are listed up for auction.

Hey I got one of the Ebay CAI's and I'm very happy with it, I just need to fab up a heat shield for it soon. I may do a shield up between the radiator and the fender with a air grabber/scoop set up in front right of the radiator. I know AiRam sells one but I like fabbing things up just to see if I can. Two things though about the Ebay CAI you will need to get a stretch tape from Lowes/Home Depot and wrap it around the outside of the throttle body then the coupler will fit snuggly when you put on the big hose clamp. This just helps fit and seals better. The other thing is that you will need to bend up some aluminum flat stock for a support bracket right in the middle coupler area to hold it up. (Hope the photos show up)

Just a question you got a CAI(Cold Air Intake) Looking at your pics what cold air are you getting? I'm not trying to be negative but your filter sits a little high over that 200 degree motor. Just my 2 cents I've been wrong before.

I know I need to fab the heat shield. Air intake is way better though. I guess it's just an AI (air Intake) for now

I got one of those, and i like it a lot, Great sound from the engine, really opens up the Hemi, and I can definately feel more horsepower. I have seen no increase in MPG though.

I installed it completely backwards from what the pathetic little instructions said.

It was a very tight fit, almost couldnt get it in....the filter ended up down near the right fog light next to the radiator

Also there is a hole in the tube for a temperature sensor...I dont think we have one in our trucks, cuase I couldnt find one, so I just plugged the hole with duck tape until I can get a brass plug

I am also looking at building a heat shield to protect the filter from the radiator.

If you buy on of these, make sure you get the 'full' verision that comes with two pipes, or else the filter will just be sitting there next to the engine getting no cold air.

yep you have a temp sensor. its the IAT (intake air temp) sensor that your talking about. if you look on the back of the resonator box just to the right (when your facing the truck) of where the stock intake hose goes into the resonator box then you should see it. it should come loose with a twist and pull.

oh i just realized that you might be talking about the hemi. on the 4.7s its like that but not sure about the hemis. i would definantly think that they would have and IAT sensor since i believe the temperature of the air your getting has something to do with how the computer makes the engine run. for example if youre sucking in 100 degree air i think the computer detunes the engine for less performance to keep it from overheating.
