Default HELP WITH ELECTRONIC PROBLEM!!!!

Hey guys, i really messed it up this time...

A few days ago a buddy of mine installed my sub/amp/HU in my truck and it was working awsome. Then starting on monday, i heard NOTHING coming from my door speakers and all bass from the sub in the hotbox... so i went back and looked at the amp and noticed they hooked up the wrong amp to my sub. So today i went out and swtiched the amp.. and eveything came back on fine... now heres where the FUN begins...

I decided to give the back side of the stereo a look see and see if there is anything out of the ordinary (i have NO knowledge or experience with wiring up ANYTHING more than plugin something in to a 3 prong outlet) i didnt see anything wrong and i so i screwed the HU back into place, snapped on the dash cover and turned me key to the ON position but not starting it... nothing happened!!! only a little red light that was flashing so i turned it off real quick... i looked in the owners guide and it said it was the security system...which is fine but... I DONT HAVE A SECURITY SYSTEM ON MY TRUCK!!... so i turned the key to on again, left it there, and everything came up like it should (after the blinking red light... but something else was odd... the odometer... instead of showing 75xx miles, it said DONE! not im not sure what that ment, but after about 5 sec, it came back on to my miles but i looked at my HU and it was now getting NO POWER

so i pulled out the HU again and put it back in, trying to make sure and not kink any wires, and again the little red light started blinking, and everything came on... so i figured wth... i let the stupid thing blink if everything else works... so i got outa the truck, hit the keyless entry "lock" button... and you guess it... NOTHING HAPPENED.

So now im at a point where i got a NON EXISTANT security light coming on, my headunit is getting NO POWER, my keyless entry DOESNT WORK, and as far as i know, my speakers are also not getting any power to them

This is a 2005 dodge ram QC SLT with no security system... i need help guys
-David

the done thing sounds like you reset your computer or something. I've never done it but I thought that you held the key in the on position for a little while to do that, but thats just a guess. It wouldn't be the reason your hu don't work.

or the "Done" thing is just telling you the truth... LOL

not to belittle your issue but I find it a bit funny, did your buddy not use a wiring harness adapter to install the stereo? Because they are usually less than $20 through a Best Buy or stereo shop and almost idiot proof since you just match up the wire colors and any non-color blind8-year oldcan do that.

My suggestion is to unhook everything that your buddy installed, right back to the amps. Then check all your fuses, then try the ignition and keyless entry again. If you still have an issue, put the factory radio back in the truck, remove all your other equipment and take it back to the dealer and hope they can fix it without giving you the aftermarket electrical equipment installation run-around. Hopefully your buddy didnt simply cut wires when installing that radio or anything else because grounding out or crossing the wrong wires can do unforseen costly damage.

i would do exactly what viperforsale said.put everything back to stock and go from there. if everything works with the stock equipment then you just have to re-do the installation and make sure all of the wires are right. if you have the factory equipment in the truck and everythings hooked up right and it still does it...i would bring it to the dealer and play dumb haha. are you still under warranty?

Wow a debaucale there qck thghts tell me if your buddy used a wireing harness than check to see where he tapped into for the constant hot to H.U. the harness dosnt have supply for this to aftermarket H.U. you have to buss fuse it to another location may have caused a short and with the irratic elec. symtoms your having thats what it sounds like . second would be the amp or amps the should be fused but hooked up to batt directly not a jumper source or other area with short distance solid grounds. this all came after install with new stero eqmt. correct? many of us have aftermarket and no issue it's in the install.

"Done" just means the key dance is finished -- it's shown you all the codes it stored. I'd say your "buddy" needs some wiring training perhaps. Yep, take it all out and see what you get. You may need to replace some fuses.
