Default 4.7 dual exh.

can anyone sggest a good muffler for dual exhaust on the 4.7? i like the loud/poppy sounding exhaust, what mufflers should i get? would a 40-series work? moms got 50 series on the tahoe w/350 with true dual exhaust, not cat back, and im looking for that on my truck, just louder.

i have a flowmaster that actually came in a kit for my truck, i had the local muffler guy install it and it ran about 380 out the door for parts/labor. If i had to do it over again, i would probably just get an electric cut out, so when i want it quiet, i can, then when i want to open it up, i can hear it ROAR!!!

Im not really sure what series i have, 40 or 50, i just know i have a pretty bad drone on the highway at about 1900-2100 rpms.

Im gonna install the 4.56 gears soon and that will increase the rpms roughly 2-300 rms, so it should be outa that sweet spot where it rumbles the cab

hope this helps

Go with the Flowmaster 40 standard......sounds so good when you get on it but when on the freeway it does not bother you as you cruise with the radio on just a nice mellow low tone until you floor it and bam there it is

I'm running a 12" glasspack on my truck and with the old gears (3:73) it caused a loud drone in my truck at highway speeds. Changing the gears to the 4:56's made it go away and it's really kind of nice now. I would say the noise level dropped by 50%. Yeah, it made that big of a diffefence!

I would look into the Super 40 Series. Louder and deeper sound than the original 40 Series. I've never heard a 4.7 before but it should sound nice.

I have 2 50 series with a magna flow x-pipe. It's not loud but definately roars. I also went with 2.5" pipes. Would go with 2.25" if I had it to do over, but don't regret my system at all.

Ive actually heard that the 4.7L sounds BETTER than the HEMI with the same pipes on it...

so you have a 40 series on your 4.7L and when your cruising at 70-75 @ about 1900-2100rpms, you dont have a rumble/drone/humming sound in your cab????? If thats the case then one of us doesnt have a 40 series[:-]

my friend has a 40series flowmaster and then he bought a high flow cat and hollowed if out. its loud as hell but it just sounds alright. if you really want a good tone and be loud go with 12" glasspacks and keep your stock cats on. its sounds awsome. my friend has this on his dodge dakota 4.7L. true dual would be even louder.

it all depends on what you like. if you like loud id actually recommend a vortech muffler. A buddy of mine ownes an exhaust shop and he has done about 9 exhaust over the years for me. FLowmasters always sound good and give you a nice rumble, but ive found the vortex mufflers to be louder and more throatier. Plus they arent as well known as flowmaster, borla, magnaflow, etc. so the sound is unique when you hear it and alot of people ask me what kind of exhaust i have on my camaro (was a flowmaster, is now a vortex).

Im throwing flowmaster 40's series on my ram this weekend. i will try and get a vid of it so you guys can hear it and get an idea from there.
