ram mpg sucks
I drive about 8 miles to work everyday, interstate (haha) about 45 -60 mph depending on traffic. I used to average about 12 to 13 mpg, now with the extreme heat, I'm averaging 10 to 11 mpg.. Real nice that the price of gas is rising. Airram states going to 456 gears will improve your mileage. I'm too cheap to spend the money to find out. Probably trade it in if the price of fuel continues to go up. Love the truck but can't keep it If I can't afford to drive it..........
I average about 16.5 to 16 MPG driving county roads to and from work. On the highway I'm getting 17 to 18 MPG.
Last week I towed my ATV and a king sized bed 350 miles, I got 14.5 HWY MPG. Works fo me!

today at school we were talking about gas mileage and some one asked me what i got and i said i went to louisiana last weekend and i was gettin some great mileage off of it with the cruise on and they go "what 24-25" and i was like no...19.2 lol it seems like my idea of good mpg (15-20) is different from everbody elses (25-30) maybe because ive always been around trucks and thats just what ive come to expect.
I drive about 50miles round trip to work daily. I have somewhat of a heavy foot, and it is stop-n-go traffic both ways. I average about 13.2 - 13.5 mpg. Last year i drove to Ameila Island, Fl. from Tampa and I got about 22 mpg on the interstate. Cruise control set at around 70 mph. I dont think that is to bad for a hemi. My last truck was a 99 f-150 and it got about 9 - 10 mpg in town with a 4.6 v-8.
When did trucks ever get good gas mileage?
My 06 2500 ram reg cab 4x4 5.7 with the the six speed gets as low as 13 MpG city and on ocassion will hit 17 MPG on the high way if I cruse at 60 mph, mixed driving is 14 MPG, I have allways used mid grade Flue in it
Yup,
I agree with NOS. I run 89 Philips gas in mine, tires at the recommended 40, gentle gas pedal most of the time, try to keep shifts at or below 2200rpm. Right now I'm averaging 17.? +/- average mixed driving

instead of gassing it, let the idle motor move the truck before you hit the gas. Also, learn the habbits of your ECU and try and drive it so that it shifts at 2,000rpm. On the freeway, if cruisng at....say 60mph with the cruise control on (an you wish to move to 70mph) use the gas pedal to gently and I mean GENTLY accelerate it to 70 so that it stays in overdrive. Another thing, what grade fuel are you using? I always fill the truck I drive on 89 (mid-grade) and it made a HUGE differance. I was getting about 12 on regular and now i get about 15 (if i behave). Check tire pressure too.

My 06 QC 1500 w/ the MDS Hemi gets 16-22.
My 03 QC 1500 w/ 4.7 got 12-14.
I'm all smiles since I got MDS.

Only have 523 miles on mine (just got it yesterday), so far, but from Preston, Idaho to Butte, Montana-about 320 miles straight highway/75-80 mph with AC on, and I got 17.8 average. Now that I'm home I expect 10. Damn lead foot.
Inclines and declines play a big role in mileage too. Where I live in Eastern Connecticut, even though it's far from mountainous, there are a lot of hills. You're going up giving it lots of gas to maintain speed, off the gas and sometimes on the brakes to maintain going downhill. I live 3 miles uphill from my gas station. My overhead console that tells me average milegae says that, after getting gas and resetting, I get 9 mpg from the gas station to my house, and that's driving with a light foot. However, when I worked in Southern Mass. last year, where the terrain is much flatter as you drive down i91 along the connecticut river, I was getting close to 20. Same driver, same habits, different terrain, huge difference.
I wonder, do any of you in the Rockies or other really mountainous areas see the same?
