Inclines and declines play a big role in mileage too. Where I live in Eastern Connecticut, even though it's far from mountainous, there are a lot of hills. You're going up giving it lots of gas to maintain speed, off the gas and sometimes on the brakes to maintain going downhill. I live 3 miles uphill from my gas station. My overhead console that tells me average milegae says that, after getting gas and resetting, I get 9 mpg from the gas station to my house, and that's driving with a light foot. However, when I worked in Southern Mass. last year, where the terrain is much flatter as you drive down i91 along the connecticut river, I was getting close to 20. Same driver, same habits, different terrain, huge difference.

I wonder, do any of you in the Rockies or other really mountainous areas see the same?
Well, I live in Pittsburgh, and if you have never been to armpittsburgh, I will tell you it is very "hilly". I am sure that has something to do with it.

I don't own a Ram, but my dad does, 2004 Ram Hemi, and his average was like 9 - 12 (hand figured) on the highway. Well his truck started pulling on him (like he was in 4WD) he brought it to the dealer, had two bad axle joints (or whatever they were) and they fixed those, truck stopped pulling and his average on the highway increased to 18 - 20 mpg.

Just so you know. Might wanna look into that. I dunno.

I am right there with you at 9-11 mpg. Done everything possible to increase gas mileage, except lay off the accelerator. I am amazed at the range of mileage people are getting on this site.
