how to make the most mpg
I have a 2006 RAM 1500 Q/C with a Hemi and MDS.
I haven't gotten to my first service yet, but I am close. Corrected mileage, I was getting 14.2 mpg in the city and 17.4 mpg on the highway.
I live in Canada, so exhaust mods aren't illegal. I removed the muffler and replaced it with a piece of straight 3" tubing flared on both
ends, leaving only the cat and rear resonator. I also replaced the air box with a K&N Series 77. I run 87 octane fuel, no programmer
and my mileage has since jumped to 17.7 City and 21.4 Highway.
Keep in mind that MDS doesn't work if the engine is under load. I've found that it won't kick in unless you're doing under 65 mph.
I usually do about 74 mpg (120 kmph) and I still see 19.5 - 21.5 mpg on the highway.
That's with 3.92 gears.
