Hey guys some good news about gas prices
On my way to drop my truck off for it's recall there was a Wal-Mart with 2.29. Incase somebody doesn't know, you can put money on a Wal-Mart gift card and get .03 off. So gas for 2.26. It is still 2.28 across the street
Dude, I have nothing againts you southern folk, heck, I wish I was one. But the whining about gas prices has just gotta stop, lol. I work in the Alberta Oilfield in Canada. Alberta is sitting on, what is close to the second largest deposits of crude oil and natural gas, in the world, Saudi Arabia is numero uno. Alberta makes 75% of all of Canada's oil and gas. Almost half of that is shipped south, via a 24" pipeline to Chicago and several others in fact. I pull this stuff out of the ground, every working day. I produce it and ship it, for what? To go south. Now, this is the point I am getting at. You pay, $2.30 a gallon. One U.S. gallon is 3.79 Liters. We pay $1.24 per LITER of premium fuel, now lets do the math, ok, $1.24 per liter X 3.79 liters in a U.S. gallon = approx, $4.70 a GALLON. Now, wanna tell me how you are getting screwed, lmao? Just lettin ya know what we have here, not cool to have to spend $125 CANADIAN, to fill up my hemi. The American dollar is woth about .17 cents more than the Canadian dollar and if we sit and figure it all out, I may just go postal, lol. Take care guys, you dont got it too bad, Keep the rubber side down

Well I guess I believe it now. I filled up my wife's SUV yesterday for $2.009. Not all of teh stations around are that low yet, but if one is the others will soon follow. I hope.
Yeah Connecticut is pretty expensive, my town has went from $3.00+ to around $2.69 currently, its at about $2.69 in all surrounding towns some as high as $2.80ish. Would deffinetly feel better to fill up with only $40 instead of droping $70+ to fill up

Hopefully home heating oil will follow the same trend. I bought a wood pellet stove 2 winters (2004) ago as a cheaper supplement to oil. The saleswoman told me they were selling for $160 a ton in the offseason. I never paid less than 200 - think it was 249 last year. This year, they're already 330. Doubled, in 2 years! I go through 2 tons of pellets, and that only offsets the oil usage by one third. I'm too afraid I'll get totally pissed if I do that math.
san diego- COSTCO= 2.639! lowest i have seen in over a year and a half! just a month ago i was filling up for 3.059. i'm very glad the prices are going down so freakin much. its saving me some money so i can actually continue on adding on to the ride.

it shouldnt be THAT much of a difference though since the candian dollar is worth like .91 so the exchange rate is way good. It boggles my mind since most of our oil gets exported to the US for petroleum.

are you sure you are comparing US $'s to CA $'s? Other than that, I couldn't imagine why.

why the hell is gas so expencive in canada compared to the states?
why the hell is gas so expencive in canada compared to the states?
A) Refineries. The amount of refineries within your border has a direct effect on the cost of gas since it reduces the amount of imported gas.
B) Bulk. Go to Costco and compare their prices to a locally owned grocery store. Buying in bulk for a large nation of gas guzzlers makes our prices lower simply because we are more populated.
The exchange rate does play a very small part but since our government has devalued our currency so much recently it isn't a key factor.
