i think you are a little dumb in the head... first off the 5.7 would rape a 4.7 anyday... i dont care who is driving it.... secound off your little tricks and mods you speak of are not gonna give you **** compared to the 5.7..... and the overdrive isnt a big secret....
Dumb People **** me off
ok im not new to dodges engines and i know that the mods i have dont add much and i know overdrive isnt a big secret. but this kid wont think of anything but putting his foot into it hard off the line. i know ill jump him off the line and i know hell probably pull on me. the question i asked was not whether or not the 4.7 would beat a 5.7 but rather if a 4.7 got a good jump (maybe a truck length) in a short race if it was possible to beat him to the next red light or if he would pull on me too quickly. i know hell pull on me but not sure how fast hell catch up besides this is just two guys going out and having fun nothing wrong with that ive heard of people racing hemis against srt 10 trucks (believe someone on here did it) just for fun. and you dont have to put anyone down for asking a question and actually im pretty smart thank you.

btw im well aware of the dangers and only race occasionally and only at night on the back roads going out of town when theres not anybody around.

First off you wont get him off the line. And secondly all you will see is tail lights. The 4.7 and 5.7 are not even close when it comes to racing. Dont do it and save yourself the risk of getting hurt for nothing. It may seem fun till someone gets hurt, then it will just seem like stupidity.

The hemi is a very powerful engine and if he sinks his foot into it off the line you'll basically be eating his dust all the way down the road.

but this kid wont think of anything but putting his foot into it hard off the line. i know ill jump him off the line and i know hell probably pull on me

im no drag racer, street racer whatever. but this makes no sense. same truck, same weight. small motor, big motor. the 4.7 is a weak (somewhat) motor. i have one in my reg cab, and ive also driven a hemi reg cab. the difference to me was like driving a miata then gettin into an m4 roadster. you do the math. and if you are prettysmartthankyou, please listen to reason, and the biggest reason here is safety. back roads going out of town at night are dangerous too, and since when do those roads have 100-200 yd. stoplights? not everything is how you see it in the movies. what if a deer runs out in front of one of you? geez....what would your mother say?

Am I just dumb, or what. I figured stop light to stop light, throttle wide open, maybe you'll get into 3rd gear, but I don't see any reason for turning off the O/D. You'll never get into that gear in the short distance you'd cover. And what a waste of gas! Find a strip and do it the right way if you wanna get your *** kicked. Don't put the public in the middle of your high school fantasy there Ricky Bobby.

I'm not going to press judgement, just ask him to go to an amatuer drag night with you and race and see how it goes....or find an empty road and race, then atleast in case of catastrophe you will only kill each other and not innocent bystanders.

DAMN!!!! What a bunch of pu$$ies!!! Your right street racing is not like what you see on tv, or at least not what this kid is talking about. He'll barly see 2nd gear in a short little romp. Thats maybe 50-60 MPH. Hardly dangerous, hell its barly speeding. Just use a little common since and remember its not the fast and the furous so don't start trying to race through traffic and you'll be fine. I'v been around street racing all my life and have known of fewer accedents caused by it then I have by some idiot on their cel phone. We're talking about mostly stock truck here, any real power and a racer would prefer to go to the track because traction is usually better there.

As far as who would win. With the gear ratio difference you might pull half a truck length of the line (I doubt it though) but it wouldnt take long for him to over come you way before the next light, probably before you completly cleared the intersection. He'd definatly have you by the 60' mark even if he was sleepin at the light. But it will make him feel good about his new truck so have fun. And watch out for those popo's.

He's got a good point there. They wont be picking up much speed at all and he sure as hell wont hit the 100mph mark in that short of distance. And if the road is clear and empty with no one around then there shouldn't be a problem, minus the cops that like to hide on empty roads. Now if he plans on going all out and speeding through traffic while racing then he should to the track instead. Im all for a good street race to people in their place but if there are any people around that are not involved in the race then I wont. Its not worth the risk with other people in your way and on the road with you. There are just too many factors with others around that you could potetially hurt or kill and who wants that on their concience.

I agree with the points about not getting the speed all that high. The Hemi shifts into 2nd @45mph, and into 3rd @ around 80mph. and some of the faster trucks around here are running just under 90mph in the quarter. So i doubt he'll make into 3rd gear. Let him race the guy. He'll probably lose, and then we can hear about the excuses about why the Hemi kid won... just my $.02

My biggest concern would be the age of the people involved and their lack of driving experiance but if you two respect what you are doing you'll be fine.
