Default Flowmaster 40 on an 06?????

I have an 06 QC hemi, with mds. I want to put a muffler on that will make it sound mean. I decided to go with the flowmaster 40 series. Does anyone have this muffler on there truck of same model and year? I thought I read somewhere on here, that it doesn't sound too good when it kicks back into 4 cylinder mode. Any truth to that?

Thanks.

I'm curious about this as well. I just got my 06 QC Thunder Road 2 days ago and I've looked at some 40 and 50 series mufflers. I'm waiting to purchase until I can hear the results from someone who has already been there and done that. Thanks for raising the question and hopefully we can both get an answer.

From my understanding from what other members have posted. Is that the truck does sound nice, UNTIL the MDS kicks in. Which is usually on the highway, and sounds like crap after that. I hear Borla has a system that deals with the MDS sound issue, but I'm not too sure. Have a flowmaster 40 on my truck with the 4.7. Sounds great, but don't have MDS.

I have a 06 with the Hemi, I replaced the stock muffler with a Flowmaster 50 HD I like the sound OK but you can tell when the MDS kicks in. I think any louder muffler would not sound right at all.

i have an 06 hemi and i just put the super 40 on less than a week ago....i'll tell you that you do notice when the MDS kicks in, but ITS NOT AS BAD AS EVERYONE MAKES IT OUT TO BE....its like putting a (stick) car in 5th gear and its supposed to be in 3rd and you hit the gas and it sounds like its bogging....thats it....and if it really annoys you just put it in tow/haul

So it sounds like it's bogging out when your cruising? Is it loud when it's doing that? Or is it kinda like just a humming noise when your cruising? Do you find the 40 is pretty loud inside the cab?

Thanks

Frankly, if you're cruising, WHO CARES WHAT IT SOUNDS LIKE!?!?!
As long as it allows the MDS to work as intended and sounds nice when you romp on it, that's all that matters!!!!

Ditto with what 06ram says. Plus it's not like it stays on....it's only for a few seconds at a time. Sheesh. I have the Super 40s on mine and I just got home from a 600 mile trip and you don't even notice it unless u're looking for it. I don't think I've heard it kick in once if you're in a conversation or listening to the radio. People act like someone will point and stare if the MDS kicks in.

my super 40 DOES NOT sound loud in the cabin to answer your question...if you go with the original 40s then, yes, maybe it will
