Default Is My Dealer Jerking Me Around????

Hi All, I'm new to this forum...WOW, its just a bundle of information. I just purchased a new truck (06' 1500 QC (Hemi) Sport package). The dealer will not release the truck until this "airbag" recall is repaired on the truck. I've been waiting 6 days and they still have not received the replacement part. What could you do at this point? How could I put some heat on the dealer??
PS..Its my 1st Dodge ( I owned Ford f-150's my whole life)...and I cant wait
Thanks....

Unfortunately, you aren't being jerked around. Dodge put a stop sale on all 2006 model Rams until the passenger airbag has been replaced with the new model. The airbags however, are on backorder. I bought my 06 Ram Thunder Road last Friday and got lucky. I got to take mine home because it was a dealership transfer and hadn't shown up on the new dealer's inventory yet. My aunt works in the parts/warranty department and told that if I had chosen any other 06 on the lot I would've had to wait a couple weeks for the parts to come in and be replaced. I don't think you can get the dealer to release it. Dodge released a 'no sale' list of VINs to each dealership telling them which vehicles could not be sold until the part was replaced. If your VIN is on their list, you have to wait or the dealer could get in trouble with the manufacturer. I hope you get the truck soon. I love mine and I'm sure your's will be awesome too!

I dont think the dealer is jerking you around. If there is a issue with the air bag then they would rather keep the truck for lialibility reasons than anything else. Too many sue happy people in this world i tell ya. But it does suck that you cant play with your $30k +++ toy [>:]

It is a federal law to sell a NEW vehicle with an outstanding recall...no matter how much "heat" you put on your dealer - he isn't going to let it go.

There are not yet enough parts in supply to match the sudden demand. There was a bulletin on this recall, that sold vehicles sitting on the lot are to get priority before vehicles already on the road.

So for now, you just have to wait.

Believe it or not, this dealer isn't just doing this to you for his enjoyment.

This is my first Dodge. I bought an 06 QC 1500 with the Hemi. I took delivery last Wednesday. I checked on the Dodge website using my VIN # and the repairs were not taken care of before they sold it to me. They haven't even paid off my trade in yet. I love the truck but my dealers customer service seems to be lacking.

I work for DCX.

I own an 06 Thunder Road.

Unfortunately, because of my employee status, I'm bumped to DEAD FRIGGIN LAST at my stealership when it comes to getting my pass side air bag replaced.

As said above, can't sell a new vehicle with an active recall.
The good news is that DCX is going above and beyond by honoring incentives based on order date, not delivery date, for the vehicles involved in the recall. This is a FIRST and is UNHEARD OF in the industry... Yeah, it's gonna suck if your new truck is delayed... just think about this... if you were buying a GMC or a Ford, they wouldn't be honoring the rebates/incentives if your truck was late for a recall.

you are not being jerked around. I bought an 06 on saturday and I finally picked it up yesterday. they only get a certain amount of sensors in a week so just push them to put you in the front of the list. My dad's best friend was the salesman for me so we hounded him everyday to put me up front and he did just that. just wait it out, I know it sucks because I was sooo ancy until I got it but it's worth the wait.

Thanks All, Here's the latest update....I received a call from the L.I. stealer dealer last night (friday, 9-22). They STILL don't have any confirmation from Dodge on the status of the replacement recall parts or a definitive date of shipping(????). I ranted and raved that this answer was not acceptable (to no avail). I suggested the owner personally (yea right, like he gives a hoot!) call Dodge or borrow one from another dealer just to get the truck out-the-door[8D]. Oh well.........
You'll drive safe and have a great weekend.
Eddie
