At a stop light... this Flame red 06 mega cab with the hemi pull's up beside me. I'm lighter, in my reg cab, hemi booth trucks are 06 2500 4wd, Knowing the six speed is not really built for speed, I still thing I can show him my tail lights..

Light turns green I'm a head until I have to shift into fourth, than the pimp mega cab is proving to be quicker, and thiers no why I'm going to catch him, I was not totaly blowin away, but the mega cab was quicker, even with upgraded 20 in wheals...

Hemi's do like gas when you race them and we booth flued up at the same service station. He had a cold air intake on the truck, a chip and a edge tunner, custom ex system I don't know what type of chip he had, and he did say his tunner was set fo 92 octane..and his dif was a 392, I have a 373.

All I have done to my truck is install dual ex, and at high way speeds it really woke the truck up, booth of us never went past 60 mph, I was surprised by the mega cabs get up and go..

 

I would say the automatic trans he had was what beat you. shifting a manual trans takes time and thats where he gets you.

 

You went for 4th and didn't go faster than 60mph? That might be why you got beat. I've never been in a 6 speed truck but I would be surprised if the gears are that close, but I could be wrong.

 

Edge does not make a tuner for Hemi's.

What are you shifting at? 2200 RPM
The automatic was probally just about out of second.
Check around to see where your truck makes the most power and shift there.

 

I was running second gear until 81 mph with my old 3.92's. With the 4.56's I get out of second at 72 mph.

 

no, total speed of booth trucks did not excead 60 mph, I was shifting betwean 2500 to 3000 rpm, 2nd and third are geared low, my truck dosent realy wake up until 4rth to fith, the six speed manual is basicly a 5sp with a extra extra low gear so for me 2nd gear is first.
My truck is not a drag racer, I allready new that..

 

Hemi's peak at around 5400 so you should be shifting at around 5900 but I think they hit the rev limiter at 5800 so shift there. At 60 yoiu should just be going into third.

 

yea you shifted way to low... the power band starts about 4k and goes up from ther...you shud be shiftin just b4 6k...

 

Shifting under 3000 rpm should make the title of this post "My first granny race" not "my first drag race", hahaha. You definitely need to rev out that Hemi. I bet you might have taken him if you shifted at redline.
