going to replace my rotors ... what size c clamp do i need to push back the caliper piston?

I'm sure you're done already.... but next time, there's a much easier way to do that. take off the tire, and after that, find the opening in the top of the calliper. you will be able to use a long, sturdy flat head screw driver to wedge in there and pry back, pushing the pistons in. then unbolt the calliper and change your pads. last time i did the brakes on my '03, i think i might have taken 20 minutes total... using a floor jack and impact. good luck, hope you got it done alright!

i'll have to keep that in mind ... is it that simple for the rears too?

If you use the old brake pad to span the piston, an 8" C clamp is more than big enough.
Just be sure to go slow... and be sure not to pinch the boot.

I haven't done it on my Ram yet, but if the piston has blind holes or slots in it, it needs to be rotated as it is pushed in, using a special tool.

If you leave the pad in, an 8" clamp is enough.

I just swapped my rotors for cross-drilled/slotted combos with ceramic pads.
