Default question

I seized the motor in my 02' Ram 1500 4.7 and am loking into my next plan of attack. What's the average cost of a rebuild VS. just buying another motor to swap in. I'm located in Vancouver, WA. if anyone has any good reccomendations on who to take my truck to for work.

Many of the national rebuild companies come with fantastic warranties, but you're looking at several thousand dollars to fix this. There is just no way around it, sorry to say.

If you have a local area rebuilder, it would probably be better (cheaper) to go ahead and let him rebuild your motor if you can afford the down time. You can also use this as an excuse to get some mild porting and get a better cam and other internals.

I'd go remanufactured, the cost of magnafluxing the block and heads can get pretty expensive and is definately worth doing to ensure that all is good before rebuilding. Plus the crate rebuilds generally come with a warranty...usually they are short blocks meaning you add all your accessories. In my opinion the better way to go.

Here are a few links where you can find a REPLACEMENT engine... Im not sure if any of them are local... or even a state away... if so then you would save on shipping cost if you picked it up OR just had it shipped to your door...

E BAY 4.7L engine

Another E-bay 4.7L engine

REMANUFACTURED 4.7L Engine on e-bay

Another Re manufactured 4.7L engine off e-bay

I hope these help...

SPEED SAFE, AIR RAM

Default RE: question

This may be a stupid question but what does it mean when these motors I found on EBAY say that a motor is a "N" vin number? Do certain motors only bolt into compatible vehicles? How do I tell what my truck is according to it's vin? Also, would a HEMI bolt up in my truck?
