Hello all just pruchased a 2002 ram quad cab 1500. Unsure if it really has a hemi motor. The emblem is on the front but im still courious. I have looked at all the obivious. and no luck. there is no insignia on the motor itself. please help if you can

 

the 2002 didn't have the option of the 5.7 hemi, the only engines available are the 3.7v6, 4.7v8 and the 5.9v8, their should be a sticker under the hood that will say what engine it is?

 

I've also heard you can go to a Dodge gealership parts counter with your vin#, and
get a build sheet, that shows everthing your truck came with.

 

Look to see if there is an option sticker in your glove box - definitely not a hemi

 

i believe if you email them your vin and name they will send you a build sheet also

they also had 5.2s in 02 i believe. one of my teachers just bought an 02 dodge 1500 qc and he was picking on me for my tiny 4.7 and i said if you have the 5.9 i get the same hp as you but better gas mileage and he said yeah but i have a 318 (5.2) so you do have more power but i get way better gas mileage. and hes the auto tech teacher so he knows his stuff and isnt just some moron teacher that doesnt know jack about engines spouting off. he might hav been wrong but i was pretty sure they made 5.2s in 02 before he even said that.

 

no their was no 5.2 in 2002, he must be smoking crack or something

 

Should the Sticker say Hemi on it. The only thing it says is 5.9 doesnt say hemi does this mean that it isnt a HEMI

 

ya the hemi will say 5.7L hemi, the 5.9 is not a hemi

 

the 5.9 is the bigger of the regular v8's though
