So this thread boils down to which can truck can win in a quarter mile? God I hope not.
Silly me, but I thought the whole purpouse of buying a truck was to get a utility vehicle for hauling/towing things. Can the new toyota perform this function better than my 06 2500 CTD? I doubt it.
Is the toyota built to a higher quality standard, most likey. Do I want to pay the premium for a new Toyota truck? No. Yes, Yes I do realize I paid about 5K more for the CTD, but I do tow a boat.
Are all toyotas bullet proof? No. I can remember the tacomas having bad manifolds (98-01_ models). A Coworker had a tough time with problems on his Tacoma (2000) blowing its cats out on a stock truck. Finally turned out to be a bad MAF. Cost him a pretty penny (out of warrenty) to get the truck correctly diagnosed and fixed.
I am sure the new Tundra will be a capable vehicle in its own right. But this fat guy likesa lot of room.

mr slug, I bought my ram because 1st off I dont like driving cars and I race motocross so I need a truck, I do not tow anything so buying the cummins was out of the picture. I also only really like RCSB trucks so I got that and I didnt need 4x4 because I have a lifted rcsb 98 ram already so this truck is mainly a street truck. Therefore I like to take it to the track and I want to make my truck fast, I think a fast truck is awesome. I already know if I need too I can tow more than the tundra so I don't care about that, I care abotu being faster....

By the look of things Dodge just does what it does, and thats make a great truck that has a powerful motor. It seems that it is Toyota is the one who is trying to keep up with Dodge. What me worry..Never!!!

I gotta tell you guys! My experience with Dodge has not been a great one at all! I have owned six Jeep/Dodge vehicles in a row,loved the looks of each and every vehicle but have to say that my next vehicle will certainly be a different brand!
I loved all three of the Jeeps I have owned (2 Wranglers and 1 Grand Cherokee), got good life with little or no breakdowns or problems, but the three Dodge's I have owned have not faired so well!
1999 Dodge Dakota wasa nightmare from the first 100 miles. Electrical problems galore, transmission, oil sending unit, fuel system, and alternator all within the first 60,000 miles at which time I ditched the thing.
2003 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab 4x4 (4.7 liter) - Electrical problems like windows, mirrors, oil sending unit, gages, lights - absoultey terrible gas mileage that the dealer cannot figure out. My overall best is 13.7 on my normal drive and the mechanics hooked it all up, drove it around and got the same results and cannot figure out why its getting such bad mileage. My best friend has a Hemi and have spoken to dozens of other owners plus the dealer that all say it should be getting better than that. The truck cost's a fortune in maintenace every 30,000 miles!!!! Anywhere from $800-$1200 depending on where I take it and even if you do it yourself, your still going to have to spend three times as much as on the Chevy's or Ford's just in parts/fluids due to the frequency of the maintenance. LOVE THE LOOKS - HATE THE RELIABILITY AND OVERALL COST!

The Toyota's are by all accounts and reviews the cheapest truck to own and maintain with the best overall track record when it comes to breakdowns and reliability, plus the Toyota is made in America and has more American parts on it than my Dodge! That truck is not only put together by hard working Americans but the parts are being made by hard working Americans instead of Mexicans or Koreans.

Anytime your dealing with vehicles you can only go on a couple of things.
1.) What you can afford (Gotta be able to pay for the thing and maintain it otherwise it just adds stress to your life and takes food out of your kids mouths).
2.)What you like in avehicle(gotta like the looks, theinterior, the power, etc...of the thing.).
3.) Personal experience or experience of those you trust with brands (enough said).
This is my experience with Dodge -
1.) Can afford the payments, but why would I want to shell out another $800-$1200 every 30,000 miles (which adds up to $2,400-$3,600 over 90,000 miles) when I can buy a Ford or Chevy for the same price, get the same extended warranty and save myself $800-$1,200 every 30,000 miles, plus Chevy's at least get far better gas mileage. Not saying that Ford and Chevy's don't have some problems, but every magazine there is says that Dodge's cost more to own than any other truck on the market - Toyota's cost the least.
2.) Love the looks of the Dodge lineup no doubt about it! (But looks are not everything - a beautiful blonde hooker is still a hooker no matter she looks like)
3.) Terrible personal experience with three Dodge vehicles in a row - All three having similar problems and all three costing me precious time that could be be put to better use. Freinds and family have all kinds of vehicles with all kinds of problems, including Toyota. But there can be no denying that overall reliability, resale value and maintenance cost's are lower on a Toyota than almost any other truck, Chevy's and Ford's require less maintenance and generally get better gas mileage meaning more money in my pocket to buy that buy that new ATV!!!!
