did u check the rear cab brake/cargo lights and the license plate lights?
So you think the license plate lights will make the Lamp Out light to come on??
Actually, I once had the two license plate lights out and the lamp out warning did not come on..........go figure?

Also, you could have a lamp just about ready to blow.
The lamp out sensing system doesn't appear to like any low resistance circuits, and is quite intollerant of it.
That's why fitting LED's to these trucks without ballast resistors is a no go.

C code 00-00 means everything's ok. This only checks the dash lights though, not the whole truck.

I had my LAMP OUT light come on last weekend and it's been buggin' the heck out of me ever since b/c I couldn't find any lights out.

Finally, last night, my left stop light went out. Like others said before, it must be able to detect when a bulb is about to go out before it actually does.

But...................................the bulb might have blown because of the intermittent contact it was making during that weekend.

My lamp out light did the same. Everytime I braked, when I let off the brake pedal I got a Ding Ding Ding lamp out error.
Then all would be ok for a while then DING DING DING !!!!!!!

The bulbs were all OK, they were just not making a good contact in the bulb holder.

I solved my problems by using the high temp silicone solution.
No more problems.

If I may contribute –

The computer has a threshold set in the firmware, which equates to amperage draw for lighting.

An error code is generated when the current draw more than or less than the correct amount of amperage for that particular circuit.

I.e. press on the brake pedal, the computer expects to see a certain amount of amperage drawn on that part of the electrical circuit. If one of the lamps were out, the amount of current drawn would be below the threshold. Error code generated.

Similar situation if one were to have a loose lamp.

One could also create an error condition by installing a replacement bulb, which has a different current draw.

In many regards, the EMC and the associated log files are great for resolving engine and drive train issues. On the other hand, the designers of the newer vehicles may have over instrumented some functions.

PARTY!

I had the same thing happen few weeks ago... I couldn't find any bulb out at all... Then after a few days, when my wife was backing out, I noticed that the right-brake light was out... Swapped it and been good ever since...

And no, LP (license plate) bulbs will not throw a code... I took mine out on purpose.

Occasonally, I get a Lamp Out Light when a relay on one of the headlights doesn't pull in.

Turn them off, turn them back on---no more lamp out light.

All this computerized stuff scares the HELL out a me sometimes.
