Default Hello, new gal w/questions

Hi everybody, I'm considering purchasing a new SLT single cab 2wd with the Hemi. Can anybody that has exactly that tellme what kind of mileage you get?I thought it might be a fast, funlittle truck to drive. I'm new to Dodge, all I've ever owned is Ford's. Is there anything to avoid in the Dodges? I was also wondering if the Electronic Stability Program is worth the extra money and does it mess you up if you wanna have a little fun and floor the truck?

Thanks!!!

I heard that there is plans to put the Hemi in the Dodge Dakota. Now that should be a wheel burning truck.

I get about 20 on a long trip. About 15-17 around town. And I wouldn't have it any other way. You won't be disappointed, go for it.

Thanks for the reply's. I average about 15.5mpg in my 5.4 V8, so it sounds like I'd actually be getting better gas mileage!

though I'm 19, I have realized that the truck isn't meant to be a racing vehicle. I average about 14 but thats with about 75% city driving and 25% highway. On my last road trip, I averaged about 18mpg at 70mph with 3 people in the truck including myself and lugage. I love how smooth the truck is on the freeway.

The Ram is a great truck, but the general concensus is that if have to askabout the mileage, you don't want a hemi. More than the mileage, check the maintence schedule.30,000 mile plugs and there are 16 of them, trans and rear end service every 15,000 or 30,000 miles depending how you drive. The LSD is a problem area. Order with an open rear end, take the $300 or so that you save, add a couple hundred and have a quality unit installed. (check the treads on this subject)

he's right, the LSD is a b*tch. The one in the Hemi I drive is shot but I wont be replacing it. The plugs aren't hard to replace, you can do it yourself and there are many wise people on here that can offer instructions on the subject which will only take a few hours if done right. Also, you will want to replace the stock battery with an Optima Red Top once the stock one expires. The headlights also need minor upgrading....keyword MINOR. The Sylvannia Silverstar Halogens are a good upgrade from the yellow light stock bulbs and they only cost about $45. You can also install these yourself. You can PM me for a word on the install. The trans and rear end servicing are the only things you really cant do yourself but thats okay. Learning how to do it yourself is the best way to do it and also save money. Good Luck!!!

The Hemi gets better mileage than the 5.4 and 5.43v, THe 04+ F-150 is heavy, My 06 2500 Ram 5.7 with a 6sp gets better mileage than the 04 F-150 5.4 I use to own, As Far as I know Dodge dosent' have a a stabillity program on the Ram, I would get a LTD slip and a long box, This will ride and handel better than a short box, you can't get a 6sp with the hemi in a 1500 Ram.... and yes thier fast
