I must admit, I almost wished I just did what you did because they did look sweet. That was a great choice on the tires on your part. I do love the 20's though.
Here is the way it works in CA (where I live as well). When an accident is reported to an insurance Company, the Insurance company informs the DMV. The DMV automatically assigns one point to each driver, UNLESS you fill out an SR22 (I think that is the correct form). Explaining what happended.
Now you get the joy of going to the DMV and explaining to them what happened to get the point removed. If you have ANY documentation on the accident (like a police report) or something showing the other guy at fault that will help a ton.
Also, go to the Los Gatos or Gilroy DMV (since you are in San Jose). Those two seem to be a little less crowded. Also, I highly recomend making an appointment.

That was really my only complaint about the truck but only because of how I plan to use it. A few people thought I was crazy for making this trade but when they saw the new tires/wheels they couldn't really recall how the others looked.
Did you ever sell your old tires?
