Default Dodge questions from a Reformed Ford Guy

A few questions if you all care to help a guy out.

I've been a Ford man for 20 years but left my F250 6.0 junk at the Dodge place Friday and came home with a spanking new 2500 Quad Cab. I'm looking at getting my new ride set up and wondered how much difference if any is there between the body on the 06 and 07 Dodges.

I kind of miss my running boards (not as much me, but my daughters) and want to get a set for the Dodge as well as bed rails, a tailgate cap, probably a bed liner and tonneau cover. Just looking on line, most of the stuff lists that it fits an 06 and very little for an 07. Surely running boards would be the same, but what about the bed rails and bed liners?

Skipper

Spray on bed liners fit all years...lol. Give it a couple of months and I'm sure most places will update their websites for the '07's. I'd be willing to bet if you call some of the numbers on sites and talk to them ,they will get you what you need. I don't think there were to many changes from '06 to '07 (in reguards to running boards). Cograts on the new truck.

07's have different tail lights from the 06's, that's about it.

As motorider said, the only difference that I am aware of between the 06s and 07s is the taillights. Other than that, it's the same truck...as far as I know

Heard Ford is having a lot of problems with those 6.0's blowing head gaskets and overheating.. My dad has the 02' 7.3L PSTD and is afraid to buy a new truck because of the 6.0L PSTD and its problems. Anyway, congrats on the new Ram, I'm asuming you got the Cummins TD? Most all of the 06 stuff will fit on the 07' but youhave to make sure it's for the Mega Cab!

Welcome....I to gave up on Ford after many years of owning F-150's. You will find the dodge is ergonomicly (Sp) hard to get used to if you have only owned Fords.

The 07 rear tail lights don't agree with me, if thier were gatling guns or rocket bosters that popped out the chevy look a likes, than that would be cool.

Dodge make's a hell of awsome truck and I will never ever buy a Ford product, I'm so P O with Ford, but I sing the glory of dodge to the high heavens.

That European shift pattern is different. It's going to be different swapping out between it and my farm truck.

When did Dodge go to the upside down shift pattern?

I'm real pleased with it so far although it is taking a little getting used to. My 6.0 Ford was a major piece. It was down 5 months this year and still wasn't fixed. I'm glad to be shed of that thing and won't own another. I'm really hoping this Dodge will cure my truck problems for a long long while.

European Shift pattern? What are you talking about? Do you have the cummins with the 6spd?

The shift pattern on the 6sp.... Reverse is down and to the left,,,when shifting from 5 th into 6th, you have to careful not to shift into 2nd, once you get used to it you will be ok, but I admit it took me a long time to get used to, I still on ocassion shift into 6th thinking I'm in reverse....

The gears are close togethier, with short throws and it takes time to get used to depending on the shift paterns of your last manual trans truck.
