Default Flowmaster Cat-Back w/50 Series HD

Getting ready to do this mod. I'd like to hear from those of you with Hemi's that have purchased and had installed the true Flowmaster cat-back exhaust system. The one that comes from them, and has the 50 Series HD muffler. I have heard conflicting reports about the sound, and just want to be sure before I give the go-ahead. Are they much louder than stock? Too quiet? Too loud? I am a muscle car guy and love the sound of the old cars with headers and dual exhausts, so I like loud. But, I also do alot of highway driving, so I don't want alot of noise in those conditions. I just like a mean rumble at idle, or something that gets attention when driving around town. I want the exhaust to get people's attention, without being overly annoying.

Does any of this make sense?

I had this system on a 2003 Hemi Ram Quad Cab. I could only stand it for a couple of months before I took it off and replaced it. It drove me and my wife crazy! In my opinion, the resonance in the cab was just too much. I understand that it might be fine for some....but not for me.

I didnt get the flowmaster catback but I bought the 50 series flowmaster at a muffler shop and they bent the pipes and did the welding for me. I love the way it sounds. You can hear it on the highway but its not loud, now when you get on it thatsa different story. It definitely turns some heads.

I know I don't have a HEMI, but I do have a set of 50 series HD's on the truck with a 4.7 and it sounds great IMO (not to loud andverylivable on the freeway). To avoid some of the cab noise (this goes for any system) make sure the system doesn't mount the mufflers right under the cab. That is just asking for noise in the cab.

I have this system on my 4.7L and it is way too mellow! I am like you, having owned many muscle cars, I wanted a little noise. The 50 series is very quiet at idle, and sounds Okay at high rpm.. There is little to no resonance in the cab as long as you keep the resonator on. I am swapping my 50 series for a 40 series and getting rid of the resonator.

I have the 50 system on my Hemi with rear exit. I like it. But if you want loud you want the 40. The 50 is loud, but the 40 is louder. Maybe I will try to get a sound clip on my 05 today.

I love the 50 on my truck, its loud in all the right places. It idles fairly quiet but roars when you stomp on it.It has no cab resonance at all going down the highway and a nice meaty rumble when you accelerate. If you think it is too quiet after you install it, all you have to do is remove the resonator and it will increase the volume.I have a friend with the 40 series and his truck hums something awefull at highway speeds, makes my fillings hurt!! LOL If you go with the 40,you will need to upgrade the stereo system to drown out the cab resonance!

I had the 40 on mine for two weeks and switched to a 50. the 40 was way to loud especially if you drive long distances on the highway it will make your ears bleed.

Lets remember, he wants old loud car sound, so while I agree with everyone here I think 40s is what he is looking for.
