I think by the time you spent money on the engine, transmission, wiring, PCM and all of the other little things you could have probably bought one already.

hey I got a question for helopilot. how did you put on headers and get rid of the o2 sensor so the check engine light wouldn't come on.

I'm wondering what the gain is if you drop the whole 6.1 top end on the 5.7?
About 50+ hp but the swap is cost prohibitive. You can get the same increase with p&p 5.7 heads for a lot less. To do the 6.1 swap you need to buy 6.1 heads($1600 pair) then have them p&p would run another $1600 plus they would be port matched for your headers. Then you would need to buy the intake($700) and an adapter plate($???) to relocate your accessories and extend your wiring harness($???).

is not the 6.1 a bored out 5.7 ? or is the 6.1 block all it's own?
The 6.1 block is different then the 5.7 block. It is not just a bored 5.7 block in fact you should not try to bore the 5.7 to the 6.1 size.

Helo? You ever heard of anybody swapping in a srt-10 motor in a half ton? just exploring the idea to see what kind of numbers I could come up with...
You can have your 5.7 block stroked/built to produce hp numbers close to that of the V10 for way less money and no changing harness, pcm etc.

Thats the direction I'm heading. Not sure exactly what I'm going to do but I gotta start tinkering with this thing. There's more and more stuff popping up for these little motors everyday it seems. I don't want to supercharge it but I think I might stroke it if I can find a reasonable shop around here.
