hey guys, my buddy has an 06 sport 4X4 HEMI with MDS,,,and he is having a few problems...he has added the K&N FIPK and a 2" level spacer to the truck. .. first, anytime he gets on the throttle and lets off a little bit and then gets back on it you can hear a "gasp" sound from the intake. he cant mimik it while in P and at idle, only when he is driving, and its loud enough to hear in the cab.. it almost sounds like a turbo blow off valve.. and also after we installed his 2" spacer kit he has noticed when he puts it into 4wheel HI he has a bad front end shake .. feels like its side to side.. and only does it from 0 to around 35-40mph and any speed higher then that it tends to go away..

I was wondering if any of you guys have had this same or similar symptoms..

 

the "gasping" sound you are hearing is from the rush of air into the intake. I have the K&N system on my truck and it does the same thing, its normal and comes from the high volume of air being pulled into the intake.
I would suggest having someone look at the suspension.

 

would you suggest taking the spacers off before taking it into the dealer incase they try and blame the front end shimmy on the lift kit?

i was reading up on the MDS and how it works and ironically the gasping noise happens right when the mds kicks on ... im assuming its the added inrush of air being required for the other cylinders being activated..

anyone else have any thoughts on the shimmy/lift problem?

 

Ya my intake makes that same gasping soundwhen theMDS kicks in.

mostly likely he needs an alignment done. anytime you modify the suspension you should have it aligned.

 

Ryan you dumb a$$, where the heckhave you been!!! I would take off the spacers first and try it, if it's still doing it take it to the stealer. If it's not put them back on and get it alligned. Orif you know someone with a allignment machinehave them throw iton there and check it. as for my buddys 06.. ill tell him that.. maybe next weekend we can take them off and see if anything has changed..
