Brake Pad TYPE
im planin on doin the brakes on my 03 QC in the near future and im confused as to what pads i should get...Carbon, carbon metallic, Ceramic, semi metallic, organic. so fcking confused. i cant find any GOOD comparisons as to how long they might last under decent braking conditions, brake dust and rotor life. assuming all braking conditions are light to moderatly hard. No bumper kissing the guy in front at the red lights.
i drive a lot of highway as well.
wats the benefits of going with the different brake compounds over the next one?

Really, it's a pick your preference with one exception--don't use organic. I tend to like ceramic since it represents a reasonable balance between: rotor wear, stopping power, lower dust, pad wear. If you want more stopping power, carbon-metallic are good, but they usually wear the rotors faster. Organic is junk, IMHO, and should be avoided whenever possible.
You might also want to check the brakes on how they're put together. I bought some brakes from autozone for a Dakota that I had and before the pads were even close to wearing down, the rivets that held the pad materal to the shoe poked out far enough to completely destroy both of my front rotors. I always check my brakes before I buy them, just to look for things like this. Don't remember the brand but I do remember that they were the second in line behind the most expensive brakes and had a good warranty on them too. Just something else to think about.
I got the Performance Friction brakepadsfrom Autozone. They are carbon metallic and are the more expensive ones to choose from. Went on easy and are quiet, strong, and dust free. No warranty from Autozone butthat's because they want you to buy their brand of stuff. Performance Friction is a race tested brand, so I knew it was a good product and probably worth the extra money.
i agree 110%. best pad you can buy for all around preformance/driving. if you were think about doing it; dont waste your time buyin drilled or slotted rotors. no benift unless u race. also, as general knowlege: all pads give off dust, there is no such thing as dust free pads.
way to hit it on the nail RIcker. those are the pads i was thinking about. thatnks for the help guys!![sm=partyparty.gif]

I have a Quad cab short box 03 Hemi and last year around April time, I replaced my old pads with the EBC Performance S6000 Greenstuff pads.
I've had no visible brake dust, silent trouble free performace style braking ever since!
A great set of pads.
I will echo what loiler921said and say don't waste your money on slotted/drilled discs etc unless your into pro racing.
Hope this helps?
