body lift or susp lift
rough country 3" lift for 2wd 05 - anyone have one of these or know anyone personally.
My local truck shop sells them, but doesnt recommend them; says they are dangerous. The only other lift option they carry is 6" fabtech.
Any thoughts on this, im wanting to get a lift but really dont want the 6" one, because of price and i do little off roading. I just like the look of a lifted truck.
I have the stock 20"'s ; sometime in the future i may want to get new rims but for now i think id just like to add a 3" lift. What do you think about this? 3" lift witht the stock 20's big enough.
Thanks,
boyd

RE: body lift or susp lift
Havent yet, not many kits made for an 07 (that are priced under $2000), but when I do find a kit, it will be a 6" and I will run 36" rubber on 20" rims.
Triton, the truck of the month, has a 3500 with a 6" lift from SuperLift, and his looks awesome! But I am a 1500.

On a 2wd, or even a 4wd for that matter, I would think the body lift is the most economical way to go. Make sure that when you go up you get wider tires, not too big of a deal, but it helps with stability. Plus it doesnt F' up the ride quality. And if you want to go back to stock it is a pretty easy swap too.
The suspension lifts usually have a stiffer ride. Plus you will need new shocks. at least for the front. Probably the rear too if it comes with any type of pick me up for that.
Body lift downside is the gap, some people will say that it makes it dangerous or whatever, but I have never experienced any issues with ride/safety after installing a body lift. Now poor installation or a bargain basement kit might give you issues, but if you go with a performance accessories kit, which will cost more, and install it properly, it wont give you any problems.

you can get gap guards for the body lift, the black plastic that is put in the wheel wells to hide the gap and clean it up a bit. I pan on getting a body lift this summer. I have a quick question too, how wide of tires can I put on my stock 17" rims. 2002 Ram 1500 2WD.
