Another vote for Amsoil. Run it in my truck and my bike. I keep an eye on the level and do every 6k in my truck.......

ORIGINAL: quickfix27

at what intervals areyou changing with synthetic Mobil 1? seems like a lot of members are using synthetics. are synthetics considerably better than regular motor oil?
Using a high quality synthetic will always be better than dino oil. I personally use Amsoil, but with any high end synthetic you will have better results and longer change intervals of 7500 or 15000 (depending on grade / service schedule) compared to every 3000 with dino oils.

Amsoil recommends every 15000 for their extended life oil that I use but I change it out at 10000, just to be safe, as I usually make alot of short trips (5 miles to work) every day and that falls into the severe service range.

Royal purple 10w30, wix filters. I change the oil every 6000 miles and the filter at 3k. No tick after the switch to heavier oil. I live in south Louisiana.

If you change your oil every 3000 miles, then I'd stick with aconventionaldino oil.

If you live in a an extremely cold climate, or if you want to extend your oil change interval, then go with a synthetic.

Pretty much all oils these days, even conventional oils, are processed so well that just about anything will protect your engine extremely well. Just make sure it is the appropriate viscosity.
