40-15.5-18 tires would destroy the IFS on your 1/2 ton. 1/2 tons can't take that sort of abuse in stock form. a 9" lift is a bit extreme for you truck and will cause a long list a problems with axles, gearing, stearing, brakes, and the list goes on.

I would think something more realalistic like a 6" lift and 35' tires.

There is a guy on here with a Black 06 QuadCab. Hes running a 6in Fabtech and a 3in body lift. He has either 37s or 38s on his truck and hasnt had the first problem with his set up. I cant remember his screen name but somebody else on here probably knows who I am talking about.

Don't Forget:
A body lift isn't what it is cut out to be.. Over like a month's time it will start to Creek and Rattle... Plus it may ruin your cab, for it will flex the sh*t out of it.....

billschmill-first of all, no I don't really understand everything that is involved is lifting my truck, that's why I'm asking the question! Second of all, I haven't been to a mall in over 2 years, so don't call my truck a Mall Crawler! Third, I noticed in your sig that you also have a 4x4, and you live in LA. There isn't a single person on this site who hasn't heard of LA, and do you know why-because there are 8 or 9 million people living there! It's a huge city, lots of pavement, so who bought a truck just for show?? I live in Gordo Alabama. Ever heard of it! No you haven't because it's in the middle of nowhere! You know dirt roads and sh*t. I hunt, live on a farm with 2 swamps, and fish. So just for the record, I do need a lift for function, I don't give a damn about what anybody else thinks about my truck, especially somebody in LA! You aren't paying for anything that's going on my truck, I am. That means I don't need your approval. So all of you guys that have provided me with useful information-I really appreciate it. If you just want to bitch, do it on your own post and quit wasting my time!

And to think, I bought mine because I fit in it better than the ford and gmc/chevy models. :-) I am in VA, and we dont have squat to 4-wheel but big trucks are frowned upon here because they are gas guzzlers, and kill people when their honda's get hit, blah blah blah.

Mike says, do what makes ya happy.

BUT, I would give Chuck's Trucks a call down in Florida. They specialize in doing what you speak of.

Bill r u having ur period right now or what???? no need to be a dick to a guy that's new and really doesn't know what's going on. Maybe yes 40's are excessive I think 35-37 are about the max i'd ever go but still it'd be pretty cool to have 40's anyway. Maybe I only need 33's but hey if you can do it do it. Perhaps u coulda went about this differently instead of being a dick about it.

Diehard way to stand up for urself. I also in a way agree with bill that 40's are a bit excessive for what ur doing. But I know even if I never needed em 40's would be pretty friggin sweet to have anyway even for light wheeling and muddin.

It would definantly be a cool sight to see. It would cost a lot more to do it though, and your ride on the road would not be too pleasant. Are you doing the dirtywork yourself or are you paying a shop to do it? Because doing a body lift is harder than it seems. A wholleeee bunch of stuff needs to be relocated. A simple 6 inch lift and a good set of say 35" Mud terrains will go a lot farther than you think if you have it geared and set up all right. Plus you'll still be able to use your ride on the road. But I have yet to see a 1500 that big, and if you got the money I'm guessing you'd be keeping it for mainly offroad use. Whatever fits your fancy man.
