vibration after snow with 20" rims

Default vibration after snow with 20" rims

Does anybody have to clean out your 20" rims after the snow. If we get more than 6" everytime i need to go anywhere i have to clean out all the wholes in my rims from all the snow acculmulating. Yesterday we got 2 feet and i get on the highway today after i forget to clean them out and it really shakes you around. Just wondering about everybody else?

I have the 17's on mine and never needed to clean them out, but we rarely get 2' of snow in our area in one dumping, although this winter when a couple of those lake effect snows came through with wind we got drifts 3-4' that I was plowing through in the morning on the way to work, an hour north into MI. Still didn't have any problem with caking in the wheels. Its probably just the nature of the beast--so to speak.

its a 03 qc with the 20" rims, it has happened ever since i got it. It has 44000 on it maybe i need new shocks? dont know it it would help?

Shocks are probably not the issue, especially since you report that it has done this ever since you owned the vehicle. The issue is snow/ice collecting at various points on the rim, causing the tire and rim to become unbalanced, which in turn, causes the vibration. Probably not much you can do about it, except to clean out the rims when you have enough snow to cause this condition.

^^^ agreed. or do some donuts and see if that will "shake off" the snow as long as it isnt frozen on them!

I wonder if you can get a can of Teflon or something to spray on the rims so that the snow would not get stuck in the wheels so easily. Anyone have any experience with this type of thing?

Dont get teflon on your brakes! Try a good cleaner waxlike Zymol.Wax the entire wheel, inside and out. I have done this for years and it helps alot plus your wheels will stand up better to the salt and cinders and look great doing it. I wax my wheels3 or 4 times a year.

Mine do this everytime it snows alot or the snow is blowing hard. All I do is get in there and clean the snow out from the back side of the rims or park it in the garage at work and let it thaw out.
