My family was in a2006 F250 Powerstroke and we hydroplanedthen tipped over. The roof crushed in and mydaughter didnt make it . Anyways, my point is that no matter how big your truck is, i though mine was built ford tough, stuff can still go horribly wrong. So dont think you are invincible no matter what rig you are driving.

I do believe that the mileage difference is a little more than 2 mpg. In my cummins I get 16 around town and 18-20 on the highway. (hand calculated). I know for a fact that the hemi in a truck is not getting 14 around town. I was at a filling station and i was talking with a guy with a hemi 1500. He told me no matter what he did he could only get 11 mpg out of it. He asked me what I was getting im my 2500 diesel, and when I told him he couldn't believe it. It would stand to reason that diesel would get better milage, there is more potential energy in a gallon of diesel that in a gallon of gasoline, and a engine diesel makes its power at lower rpms. Just my 2 cent. Then hemi is a great engine especially compared to the 360. ick!! But compared to a diesel which if taken care of will last well over 400,000, there is no comparison.

that guy at the pump must have a lead foot, i get a solid 15-16 around town and when i get out on the highway it climbs up to 19-20mpg with my HEMI, cant wait till i get my tri fold tonneau cover, i hear they increase mpg 5-10%

That's with a 1500. I think it makes more sense to compare the hemi to cummins in a 2500. My hemi 2500 gets 9-10 city and 13 highway. My wife drives it 90% of the time too so it's not a problem with heavy feet.

I am suprised no one brought up the off-road advantage of a lighter and more controllable power of a gas motor. If Dodge thoughtthe heavier Cumminsdiesel would have made a better motor for off-roading, it would have been in the Power Wagon instead of the non-MDS Hemi. [sm=confused06.gif]
