rusting wheels on 2006?????
I have2006 QC 4x4 with only 6000 miles on it. While washing it today I noticed rust on the factory 17" chrome clad wheels. This kind pisses me off that a $35,000 will have rusty wheels at 6,000 miles. My question is has anyone had this problem anddoes the warranty cover the wheels? I know that they arent the greatest wheels, but give me a break.
Thanks for the help and advice.

I've been looking for an answer to those 20" wheels. I just bought an '02 sport with those wheels (looks the same as your picture) and wanted to get them as bright as I could and didn't know if they were plastic coated or not. I think dodge made those wheels in Chrome and Polished? Before running out and buying all sorts of aluminum polishes and buffers to make them look chrome-like, I wondered if they were coated like my old ford wheels were. Once that coating gets chipped though, things really looked bad.
Sooo, I'm guessing no matter how much I try, I won't get those wheels to look like chrome?

Here is a close up of my wheels...The plastic chrome cladding is very tough, went through a tough winter up here with salt and all. They still look great. The other finish for these wheels is argent gray which really cannot be polished to look like chrome. I know the pre-2006 wheels came in chrome cladding and polished aluminim. My experience with polished aluminum is that you have to really keep on top of them to make them look like chrome. With mine, a paper towel and windex makes them pop!

Thanks for the piture-those wheels are a little different from my on the '02, they are 5 spoke but more rounded spokes.Yours look really nice and shiny and that's the look I want. I actually discovered when I cleaned them last week that turtle chrome wax did okay, not great, then I tried these aemtl polishing wadding, and that didn't do much else. THe by accident I was spraying down my tires (with that no-touch spray tire foam) and when the overspray was wiped off the aluminum, they looked better! SO I sprayed the wheels down with the foam and wiped them and I have to say they are better. Go figure....maybe mine are coated and the foam works on that coating?

I have an '07, and my chrome clads are rusting too. I've only had the truck since the first week of February, and I wash it once a week. Obviously these chrome clads have more than plastic in them.
