My parents are looking into buying a new Dodge. On the newer hemi's I see that they have came out with multiple displacement (MDS). The salesman that we talked to said that you can get 17+ MPG. Is this true? I myself have a 98 with a 318 getting 13 so I don't know a whole lot about the newer models. Any input would be appreciated.

 

I have 2007 Ram 1500 4wdr dual exhaust,K&N,quad cab with mds. It gets 12 to 12.5 mpg. My thought is no it doesn't I had a dodge converson van with 360 automatic it got 16 & 17mpg?

 

Your getting bad mileage. I'm getting like 16 with hand calculations. 50/50 city and freeway.

 

lightin... your probably hauling *** dude. the MDS works real well. i had my truck for a month already and noticed a diff from the v6 i had to the HEMI... HEMI is better gas wise and power wise.

 

Does MDS work?..Yes. Does it save any gas on a full size truck?...Not really.

 

I took a 900mile trip last weekend and I averaged 18mpg after the whole trip was done. This includes me being stuck in 5pm traffic on Friday in Alanta Ga. I was driving around 70mph, +-10mph.

 

I had an 03 1500 Hemi Ram Quad Cab...no MDS. I now have an 07 1500 Hemi Ram Quad Cab....with MDS. I typically get 2-3 more mpg with the 07 and MDS than I did with the 03 without MDS.

 

I've gotten up to 19 mpg at night, cruise, no a/c or heater and no load averaging 65 mph, downhill, wind at my back in neutral.....no just kidding about that lastpart LOL.
