I am curious to see how the kit turns out. It seems like it may be worth it but I would like to see how long the return on investment will take.

Plus, how do you take care of all the taxes, etc? I know states charge road tax on fuel, so how do you end up keeping the politicians' pockets fat?

The retailer charges the road tax. The time for return investment depends ona number of things. I do 80% of myyearly milesin the summer. This is when propane is typically low and gas is typically high. I think that I will break even at 40-45,000 miles on fuel savings alone. Remember that it is a much cleaner fuel and the engine, filters, sensors, and the like will stay much cleaner and last longer. If you are the kind of owner that trades off a truck when it has 60,000 miles, this may not be for you. My family has been running our outfits on propane for nearly 40 years. As I said earlier, this is the first Dodge for us. Scott

Stoich for gas is 14.7 and 15.5 for propane.

I'm guessing that their piggyback computer tricks our pcm's to think its running at 14.7.

In the middle 1990s Dodge built several tens of thousand CNG Magnum 5.2 V8 Ram Vans and sold them mostly to the fleets of US Government Agencies. After a few years Dodge upgraded the size of the special high pressure tanks used to store the CNG. These vans can now be found in wrecking yards, particularly on the east coast of the USA. I have heard from mechanics who claimed the CNG version of the Magnum 5.2 V8 was particularly bad to blow out the plenum plate gasket when backfire occured inside the intake manifold.

our MP's have CNG trucks (but they are only the V6 ford f150s). ive heard you cant enough the same power with CNG as you can with other gases. but its inherit energy AND octane is much higher..
