Default More MPG, 05 Ram 1500 5.7L

My 05 Ram 1500 with the 5.7L gets 14 mpg on the highway. What can I do to get more MPG's out of it?

Best mod I have done for the MPG's is the e-fan.

The e-fan is also pretty inexpensive which makes it even better.

Not a bad idea. Was is wired to a relay that would be energized when the engine got to a certain temp? What fan was used?

ya I did the taurus efan cost me all of 20 bucks for the fan, and 10 dollars for relays and wiring... and I don't think a 2mpg increase is bad for 30 bucks...

x2 on the Taurus fan. You can get them all day for between $20 and $30.

E-fan is the best way, just make sure you do it right b/c if you don't your engine may overheat. Also check your air filter and run some gumout regane or techron through the gas. I know my gas mileage usually drops when they switch over to winter blend fuel, good luck.

Yep, an Efan will definitely help. Be sure it pulls about 2700 cfm, or it won't cool the engine off fast enough. You can also make a belly panel for the entire bottom of the truck. Synthetic oil will get you a little bit. Tonneau covers help. I am told a Superchips on the 91 also helps, but I have not tried that yet. My truck is up to 24 mpg on the highway at 65mph...
You might also R2 (remove and replace) the Ypipe, and get a free flowing muffler in the back.

guys with 4.7s cant compare mpgs with guys with 5.7s, just isnt equal.

I love to drive my truck and Im always over 3k rpm but I know if I wanted to keep my mpg then I should keep my rpms below 2k.
